Exclamation Increased fines for speeding, i.e. up to $10,000 !!!

In case anyone is not already aware of the increased fines for speeding in Ontario, here is a link to a current story on the subject. In a nutshell, 50 + kph over the posted limit can get up to a $10,000 fine, 7 day licence suspension, 7 day impoundment of your vehicle, and a second conviction within 10 years of the first - a 10 year licence suspension.

Of course, no one in this fine group of riders would ever think of going that fast, now would they?

2005 Blue DL650 (sold with regret - hurt the knees)
2007 Boulevard C50 (Wife's bike)

If your nose is close to the grindstone and you hold it here long enough, in time you’ll say there’s no such thing as brooks that babble and birds that sing. These three will all your world compose: just you, the stone, and your poor old nose.

???? Umm... Ok...

Is yours slower than the rest of the 650's?

50Kph over the speed limit is quite do-able anywhere in Ontario. Not that I would ever do (or have done) such a thing.

Blowing though a one store town posted 50 km on an 80 highway at 101km will do the trick....

Ouch! Even my old Honda Shadow could do that!

lol I'm a track junkie my street riding is slow for the most part unless I fall into a group of SS friends, and then the sparks may start to fly

The big issue I can see is happily cruising out in the country doing 110, go through one of those cross roads where there is 2 houses but the speed limit drops to 50...get nailed for street racing...I can really see a few of those happening

I can see a challenge to this in court. What is the definition of racing? There is speeding and there is racing. I am alone on the road doing 150 and in a 100 zone, and I am getting a ticket for racing? It won't hold water.... I hope:???:

I'll remember this new law at election time in the fall. It won't change anything, but at least I'll be smiling when I vote for the other guy

It will be interesting to see if they really impose these maximums.
It seems every other long weekend there is someone clocked at 200k/h plus on hwy 400 to cottage country. I'm not sure why these people do it since it gets broadcasted over the radio and tv every week.

I have only had my bike up to 180 once just to see how it would feel.
I normally stay 10-20km over the limit to stay out of trouble.

Thanks for the info.
