Talking Comin' to Cowtown

I am doing a quick, just for fun, run to Calgary, leaving here tomorrow (Thursday, 19 Jul). Will travel straight thru, so should hit the city around midnite. Will only be in Calgary for 2 full days, and hope that my pal has time to ride down Hwy 22 to Longview, etc. Plan to do that on Saturday. Sunday is a mad dash home.

Will keep my eyes peeled for fellow Stromers.

Cheers!

Say, I could use a new chain, and buying one in Calgary would at least save me some sales tax.

Anyone have a suggestion for where to get a good buy?

GW?

Blackfoot?

Cheers!

Hello
Either of those stores are great, also try Walt Healy in the NW of Calgary.
I wish I was in town this weekend to show you some roads.
1A to Canmore is great, then the Smith Dorian Trail back to K country.
The 740 up to Sundre is also a great trip.
both 50% gravel.

Well, made it, the weather was horrid. Dang hot hot hot and extremely windy.
My chain is toasted.
Checked around
GW is too expensive, selling a 117.00 chain for 154.00 (DID pro)
Blackfoot OK
ProAm, no stock
Walt Healy 125.00
Universal Cycle wants 117 for a 117 chain, so thats OK (DID pro)
and Bow Cycle sells the 117.00 for 134.00 (DID pro)

I checked the MotoVan site, and that chain is 117.00 retail. They are one of the few warehouses that supplies canadian dealers. I didnt check the PartsCanada site, but they are generally inline or slightly higher than MotoVan.

Did the 1325km trip in a touch under 14hrs, including 2 quick meal breaks and fuel stops.

Nice ride today, took the old Banff Hwy and down thru the Kananaskis area. Had a great lunch in Turner Valley at the Route 40 Soup Company. We headed back to Cowtown taking the hwy thru to Bragg Creek. All in all, 380 enjoyable KM's.
Did see 5 Stroms, and talked to 2 of them. One was a brand new Vee and both had not heard of the forum....can you imagine????

Anyhew, must head back to MB tomorrow morn, work on Tues... ;(

Cheers!
