Finally got to demo a wee today!!

Well finally, the local dealer had a demo so off I went. I have been waiting so long to demo a wee. I already wanted one before I rode it, now I really want one! It just so happens that they have a 2007 grey wee with abs.

I quickly learned that there are NO deals to be had. I was quoted full pop on the list plus freight/ PDI, etc..etc. he told me that they are selling fast & there aren't any more coming in or whatever. So my question is, where do I go from here? I am ok with paying full pop if that 's the norm for strom's these day's... Bottom line, I want to feel good about my purchace. I don't have to steal it, just feel like I was treated fairly & most of all, didn't pay too much.

Any thought's are appretiated. Thanks, Tim.

Although our Wee's are worth every penny, I would check around as Im sure there are deals to be had.

I will be in Sydney around the 3rd or 4th of June, on our way to Nfld.

Cheers!

i sent the bike shop an email asking what kind of deal they would give me,they straight away offered it to me for 8499 rather than the list price of8999 ,this worked for me as im not good at barganing face too face,i then asked for a percentage off a new helmet, they offered 20%

You might be able to get a few hundred off the list price but I doubt much more than that. I would suggest going for a discount on related items.. helmet, center stand, hand guards etc. That is where the major markup is for the dealer so there is more room for them to play.

Is it normal to pay all of the pdi/freight, admin. fees, etc? He said that it is just what they have to pay & they are just passing it along. He also said that they really don't make much off the bike itself.

I just keep reading about how so & so got a great deal, etc.. I do think that this bike is priced very well to begin with so it's not that, I just want to feel like I got some sort of deal somewhere in my purchase.

Take this with a grain of salt, but here's what I found doing my research last year. Apparently there is about 20% profit built into the MSRP. The dealer needs to pull 5% out to stay in business. Anything above that is gravy.

We won't talk about the whole Canada/US exchange rip-off thing. I assume Suzuki pockets that windfall and not the dealer.

As for the fees: it's their job to extract as much cash from you as possible. But no, they don't have to charge those fees. Some dealers promote themselves by saying they don't charge any hidden or extra fees.

Now even knowing all that doesn't mean you can get a better deal. If the dealer knows he can sell at full shot, he is unlikely to want to bargain. Then you're SOL.

Personally, I'd look for a used bike.

I worked for a Suzi/Honda dealer back in the late eightys. We always had a couple hundred bucks to negoitate with and with the price differences now i bet he has $500 in there for you. I know i was offered that in manitoba when i was browsing.
I think looking for a used one is good advice but they are few and far between. I found an 04 at what I considered a "scratch and dent sale"(fairing scratched and tank dented) I got it to a dealer i trusted they looked it over and said it was mechanically mint. $4900.
As you stated you want feel good about your purchase, he may have seen your enthusiasm when you got off the demo and feels he could get you for full pop. Call around to other dealers and get quotes if he won't match them... enjoy the ride back from the other dealer.

Thanks guy's, I appretiate it. Any info is helpfull. Thanks,

& yes, they are very hard to find used here, & if you do, they're not alot cheaper than a new one., As for the PDI/Freight fees etc, he told me that it is what they have to pay & they are just passing it along to the customer. I don't want the thing for free, I just want a good deal, not full price on everything.
