Hi All

New to this forum as I've just purchased a 2017 650 XT.

I've been hunting for a low k current model xt for a while and a good buy popped up in Tassie. As a resident of Northern NSW I thought it a good excuse to brave the winter chills and pick it up from down there and ride home.
A casual 5 day ride over the ditch and up the inland roads was fantastic...gotta say I love the bike. I'll admit now that I'm a turncoat, my last 3 bikes were 1200GS's, but like most of my very experienced riding mates who are now on the wrong side of 50 (some 60) we've decided that the big beemers are too much bike for our needs. Added to that most of us are self funded early lifestylers (as you are now expected to call retirees) and watching the $$. It's hard to justify the extra cash for what is really not a whole lot more bike (I know many would argue otherwise...)

The bike is set up with some nice extras incl spotters, heated grips (saved my from frostbite last week) bash plate,
pannier racks and a factory high seat that's gotta go.....I'm 5'8". Best wait for my 20 posts before I swap that eh?

Anyway, look forward to exploring here on the forum, getting back in the bush and meeting a few local riders from here.

Cheers, Greg

Welcome to the asylum, from another Strom-trooper. My last, though I still have it, bike was/is also a BMW. The Stroms ... very much the little bike that could, and kept on doing so.

Welcome Greg. If you feel like a ride on Fridays. We do a pie run every Friday from the BP service station at Chinderah at 9am. It's with the Tweed Border Ulysses. You don't have to be a member to ride with us. There are three Stroms at the moment doing the ride. We are just up the road from you and you are more than welcome.
