2019 Gathering

Well Ladies and Gentlemen,
The 2018 Gathering is done and dusted so it's time to think about next year.

On the other post for this years gathering and a little talk on the week-end, it was suggested about maybe revisiting Gloucester as that particular gathering was rained out.

I realise this is going back to a place that has already been visited, but I don't think we got to see the best of the place, although I loved socialising at the roundabout Inn and getting to know people better!

Like this years, I think the back to basics worked well. Pick a venue (Roundabout Inn would still be my pick) each person just orders off the menu for Friday and Saturday nights meal, and maybe a ride or two.

Ron suggested a ride to the Motoercycle Museum at Nabiac, and maybe some-one could suggest a ride for every-one that didn't want to go to the museum.

Although I said I'd never do another Gathering, being back to basics is much better, and I'd be willing to put my hand up for this one (with input from others of course)

As for timing, 1-3 November might be a good time again as the weather might be a little more stable!

Well that's my 2cents worth, let me know how you all feel about it

Cheers

Hi Sharon, thanks for starting this new post.

I'm more than happy to do Gloucester again, it's quite central to both QLD and Victoria.
The Nabiac Museum is fantastic so a definite for those who've never seen such a Museum...alotta bikes in there.

I'll enlist my ol mate Terry (Kato-strom) to help out as I'm no longer in the Hunter Valley but I'll do the preliminary arrangements including finding out if that date is good for the pub and book us in.

Yep keep it simple...no need for all the other stuff we used to do...it's just too much work to stuff around with. Whilst we had only a small bunch at Tumut, I'm hoping that we can have similar numbers as we did on the rainy weekend.

I'm in for Gloucester....who else!!

Cheers

Hi Sharon and Wobbly
I wouldn't mind Gloucester. Had a great time at Tumut and look forward to the next one wherever it might be. But given most people didn't leave the pub last time at Gloucester reckon it deserves another go.
Cheers Bruce (Strom)

Ceduna Nov 2019 - that would work for me as it will be the 50th Anniversary of the Ceduna Satellite Earth Station opening (I moved there in Nov 1969). It's just a tad late for the 50th Anniversary of the first lunar landing (July 1969)

My wife and I at the far right, the rest are my fellow tech colleagues from the earth station.

Jeez Ron what bikes were they? Kind of look like Yamaha Stingers or something around the 250cc mark or less?

One of the Yamaha DT range. I had a DT100 way back when. They ranged from 80cc to the 250cc DT1.
An interesting story as to why you all felt the need to ride Yamaha's, Pat. Was the only bike shop around a Yamaha dealer?

I'm Ron but no matter.

There probably was only a Yamaha dealer. Back then, Ceduna was a very small town at the edge of the Nullabor and at the end of the bitumen road, From Ceduna going west to WA, it was a dirt road. I drove it three times in my Hillman.

From left to right:
DT1, DT1, CT1, CT1, AT1E, HT1 (my AT1 had electric start, hence the E suffix.
It was the only bike in the range to have electric start.))
