There is nothing on the NHTSA site for bikes sold in the USA. I wonder what could have just affected Australia or had only been noticed there so far. I've seen no posts about anybody having such trouble.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

A wire chafing problem was reported by this Portuguese V2 owner, although I not seen anything in the Americas...

Yeah. I didn't look at the recall reasons well enough. Wire chafing under the tank and water getting into connectors has been reported on the Vee2. I haven't seen any cam issues on the Glee though.

Mines is an L2 (2012), looks like I need to pay a visit to the dealer.

I'm guessing they'll have to wait for Suzuki to supply updated cams and tappets, not much point replacing them with existing stock. If the issue is an oil or lack off problem they will have to fix that as well.

Sounds like my old 82 VF750SC, not enough oil to the cams.

Cheers, Oz.

That sux. Yes Honda often staggers the recalls globally to lessen the impact. Crossing my fingers. I had a fuel pump recall on my Honda Forza and the US saw it last I think months after the rest of the planet.

we have heard of these problems but I think our climate has possibly saved us from it happening in most cases

I "Liked" this post but at the same time dont LOL!
To compensate me for the inconvenience I,ll see if I can get a Hyabusa as a loan bike
(knowing my luck I would get a GN250...)

I have a few questions about the tappet recall.....
I've got an L2, just over 8,000kms.

- Would the damage be limited to just the tappets and camshafts? With low kms is it likely anything else would be affected?

- Has anyone had work done yet or heard anything further from their dealer?

- Will the whole motor need to be dropped to fix it, or can they just take the heads off while still in the frame?

- I'm about to do probably 1,500-2,000kms over christmas, should I avoid this until after it's fixed? (I don't use the bike as a daily commuter, just weekend fun)

- I've just finished putting crash bars/centre stand/bash plate on my bike, if the motor has to come out not sure if I should take them all off, or just leave them on there and let the dealer deal with it? What would you do?

I know I shouldn't worry about this as Suzuki will have to take care of it, but I'm quite particular about things, and not sure that I will have full trust that everything will be taken off and put back together perfectly. (I have no reason to doubt my dealer's work though)

I'll get in touch with my dealer this week, and I'll provide updates as I go.

Cheers,
Witherz

If you had not known about it then you would have gone. I would have thought that the dealers should have to notify owners about it and until then you just use it. If something happens, then it is covered by Suzuki.
Our second car is a 2003 Nissan X-Trail and we got a notification this year from the dealer that an air-bag was being recalled. ON A 12 YEAR OLD CAR. I think that is just amazing service .

Coops.

My car occasionally has passenger side "wind bag" .... The manufacturer wont do a recall as they say the issue is a result of an aftermarket accessory or non approved fitment.
