Is this the right place to start your thread?

Just because you are from a region, think about why you are posting there. If a subject does not involve a regional activity, it doesn't belong in a regional thread. No tech issue belongs in a regional thread for example. The bikes are the same all over the world. The only exception to that I can think of is LAMS bikes.

Rallies, meets, arranging group rides, dealer experiences, feedback about local issues and such are fine to post here. That's what the forum is for. Make sure there is some local issue in any thread you post here. Otherwise, think about whether another forum may be a more appropriate place to post.

The same goes for always posting under your particular bike's forum. All bikes can use the same after market mirrors for example.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

It is the right place if you want to hear the opinions and experiences of other Australians, not having to wade through pages and pages of waffle and tripe from seppoland. From my experience most of us Aussies do not bother looking at anything but the Aussie section so we post or questions here.

I agree with GW and that is why I move threads from ANZ to the relevant area.

I don't think Greywolf is citing rules and regulations... just suggesting we should probably be thinking a little more before we post some things Strom related.

But there are also some items that you would think would be the same across the world, but due to our isolated Island status not everything is available to us... even the Internet doesn't deliver some stuff to Australia.

I have had stuff picked up and sent to me from the USA by very obliging Yanks who have spotted my plight in obtaining parts here is Australia and have stepped in to do what the net suppliers wouldn't do direct to me.

So GW is right to some extent, but there are also exceptional circumstances that mean some posts are better dealt with locally.

Damned if we do.... and damned if we don't.

True, and that's why I don't move them all.

I agree with BB63. What might be relevant in AUS might not be relevant O/S.

I deliberated for a good time before posting my V2 suspension question in the OZ section, I did ask for and I was after Aussie set ups for Aussie road conditions to get me to the quickest set up possible.

It will do me no good to come back with 15 different set ups.

I thank others for their input but I may only get one chance to get it right so any Aussie information will hold more sway with me than stuff from OS.

Thanks Rolex.

Yes Rolex, I agree. Also, the comment by Robdek - "Test drive? Just buy it already..." is some of the "waffle and tripe" that we have to wade through to get answers sometimes.....go ahead, move what you like......I think they forgot to move the Vee 2 economy thread as it's relevant all over the world. All roads and conditions are the same, aren't they?

Tend to agree.
I'm guilty then of posting in the wrong spot...

Being new to the V-Strom world including Stromtrooper forums, and having come from the Bandit (GSX1250) world where I'm still part of the very good Suzuki Bandits Australia forum (formerly NSW Bandits) which focusses primarily on Australian content and issues including helping each other out with tech fixes, maintenance issues, product availability etc, I've gotta say I'm a little disappointed similar doesn't exist here.

Getting posts from well intended fellow riders in the USA directing me to a specific local store to get whatever or bragging about the U.S. cost of a new bike, or that the U.S. Model has no imobiliser as standard...and where to get a second key cut is as about as welcome and helpful to me as a fart in a lift to be honest.

Probably same for them when i suggest to someone here in oz to head to Bunnings etc for xyz sized PVC down pipe to make a tool tube with. I can almost hear the international yawns.

At least I now see why this Aussie section has been reducing in relevance to me, particularly living in the NT. Everything gets moved.

Time to go venturing out into the international community (I guess that's the intent?) and turn the bullshit and humour-translate filter to maximum.:biggrinjester:
