Are Headlights both on with Low Beam?

Hi all,

I've searched the forum, but couldn't find the answer to this question:

On a 2012 DL650A (Aussie-spec) are both headlights on when on low-beam?

On my KLR650 (2008 model) only one headlight came on with low-beam. I got so sick of cagers coming up to me, with a smirk on their faces, to tell me one of my headlights was blown!

Whilst on the topic of headlights, does anybody have a recommendation for upgrading the standard bulbs? I hate those stark white ones, but was wondering if there was a cost-effective replacement for the standard bulbs that's actually worth fitting?

I will eventually invest in some CREE spotties, but have spent more than enough on farkles for the moment! The missus is starting to blow steam out of her ears....!

Yes, both are on on both low & high beam.

Haven't changed the bulbs, but just recently added the Givi Trekker spotlamps for more visibility

Do the spotlights give you much more vision ? I was looking at them but didn't like the price

The LED bulbs are good, not cheap, but good. Good enough that CREE spotties don't improve matters. Alas not strictly speaking legal, though so far I havn't been hassled about them. (Several RBT's worth of not being hassled so far).

Just go back through the threads in the A-NZ section.

Just make sure you adjust the lights after you install them. They do put out a lot of light and they'll be really annoying if they are set too high.

Okay, that sounds interesting!

Forgive my ignorance, but what are 50+ bulbs?

I've got the EB Harness on order, so it'd be good if I could whack in new bulbs at the same time.

Even in full daylight, roos can easily "come out of nowhere".

If you do a lot of fast night riding, then more powerful headlights will be more pleasant . . . but probably won't really help your chances against the roos.
