As you have probably figured out by now I haven't been on the site in a while... Sorry so late in responding.
As far as some riding recommendations go I can say that if you ever make it to southeastern Ohio, it's well worth the trip. If you haven't made it over to Advrider.com yet I would suggest you do. As the name suggests their focus is the Adventure riding community.
I got rid of my Strom for the sole reason I wanted a more focused ride (Sport Touring or Dual Sport), Ended up with a KLR650 but found out quickly that while it's great fun I wasn't comfortable during my sometimes mandatory freeway commute. So I now have an 02 ST1100. I do miss the Adv style though and am hankering for a small bore DS like a KLX250S or Honda's new CRF250F. The ST for longer tours and the DS for bombing around the lesser traveled roads.
The Strom is a great bike, have fun!
And be safe while running in where mere mortals fear to tread!
