Hi, saw a post about your upgrade to the 2012 version of the 650 from the older version. You mentioned you'd swapped the upgraded rear suspension. What rear suspension/shocki are you running? I have the Elka 3-way and was told (by Blair of SV Racing) that you couldn't swap that shock into the new bike. Currently riding DL650 K6.

What year ?. 2012 doesn't need much beyond a fork brace. (I did more, but I ride off road as well). It still benefits from $$$, but for road use was O.K. anyway.

Earlier DL's , depending on your weight (the US fork companies have calculators on their web sites), fork brace. (Go with the cheapest, Rick's, it's the best anyway) firmer front springs and pretty much any of the aftermarket rear shocks with correct springing (There's one cheap brand you should avoid, Hagon) . Or find a second hand low k's DL 1000 shock, which is better, and has roughly the right spring for an 80-90kg rider.

If the front is still not good enough, throw Intiminators and 5wt oil in there.

    Fork brace ~$80
Front springs ~$200 in Oz, cheaper in the US
Rear spring (only) ~$100 (Not recommended, the damping is inadequate)
Rear shock with correct springs, ~$500 (Ricor) -> $1500 (ouch)
    Intiminators ~$200

The rear shock is the problem in terms of costs.

    Yep, probably me.

Drop me an email pwalt@onthenet.com.au if there's a ride on or if you just want company for a longer ride. Didn't see the PM on stromtroopers until today ;).

I usually out and about most weekends so riding "somewhere else" is no big problem.

    Cheers

Hi Pete. Was that you today (Sun) on the way to Mudgeeraba, I was pulling in for gas. I was meeting up with Howard and Steve at Canungra for the motorcycle safety awareness thingy. I thought I might see you there. We had a great gravel ride yesterday. Pete (One off), Howard and I take it pretty cruisy and enjoy the day. Hopefully I will put up a thread. Hope to catch up soon.
