Wish the rest of you Utards were here in SD at the gathering. Utah is well represented even with your absence. Looks like your not letting grass grow under tires while we are away. That's some nice roads you rode. See ya later.

I'm sure that Utah's Riders of the Strom are well represented - sorry that I couldn't come along for the ride, but I'm sure you'll all share pics and stories upon your return.
In the meantime, we're just going to keep on ridin' here at home. We're finally expecting a nice weekend - we'll see what happens in the morning! Enjoy, and keep the shiny side up out there in SD.

Hey Rob, Jude took me on a ride today. Up thru east canyom to Henefer, ten to Echo Reservoir, it was really a surprise to come up a little hill and all of a sudden see water like that. We stoped at the Boat Launch for a snack and ice cream, then the road continued to Wanship, along hwy 32 until Browns canyon, onto hwy 248 towards Park City, where we then continued towards the outlet stores. Jude like side roads, so we did that until Parleys Summit , exit 140. Then home. A really nice ride today. Jude wanted me to do the tag, but that's not fair for now. But here's a cute shot for next time maybe

Sorry I missed it, but you had great weather and a lot of fun, I'm sure! The ride around Echo is quite fun, isn't it?!
You can take the secondary road towards Evanston at the I-84/I-80 interchange and get within 15-20 miles of Evanston, FYI, for next time, and then head down towards Mirror Lake and come back that way - that was the ride I did with CaveHamster a few weeks ago - spectacular! Glad you two were able to ride today! Next time, perhaps... Until then, shiny side up!

Glad to see that some of you are having some fun riding locally...sure wish you could have made the Rapid City trip. I'm on my way back now, but I hated to leave! I could have spent a week or two riding in the Black Hills and surrounding areas. What a great place! I'm sure we'll have ride pics and reports up later this week.
We talked about doing some sort of a mini gathering later in the fall, maybe in the Moab area. Any interest?

Great idea - I'm tentatively interested.
We might consider scheduling this to coincide with the Moab Music Festival - http://www.moabmusicfest.org/ - Sept 3-14, or if we want to avoid crowds, afterwards. Personally, the 11th through the 14th might be a good time, and would also provide some alternative evening entertainment for those interested. Just a thought. Ride safely home! Quote:

-Excellent- riding out and back to Rapid City. I was glad to see all you guys that made it and look forward to the next one (as long as it is not in Alabama... too many interstates to get there, sheesh).
I made it in around 8:30 last night. Kind of funny, Spineguy and myself left out from Rapid City, hit Buffalo, and I decided to take 16 over the mountains (I know that area really well as friends have a cabin up there), come down through Thermopolis and hit the interstate at Rock Springs. I even stopped and had a excellent burger in Thermopolis, sitting outside in the shade at a picnic table, and relaxed and read my book for 30 minutes. Spineguy had headed down to Casper from Buffalo, over the hill and onto I-80 at Rawlings. After I hit the interstate, I managed to catch him about 40 miles down! I guess he had a bit of a horrid time with trucks the entire way. Anyway, as I mentioned to most of you, I have a vinyl cutter at work and am going to work up a design for a Utah sticker. I'll start a different thread for it, maybe get some design ideas from you guys. 2041 miles later, I'm ready for Scott to come wash my bike when he gets in. |

Racing 2 save lives this weekend at Miller folks. Cheapest track time you can find and it's tax deductable.
http://www.racing2savelives.org/ No leathers required in the street group! (I think. It's been like that in past years)

Well...I'm still on the road, but on the last leg home. I decided to spend the night in Casper and got up early this morning determined to not to take any more interstate than absolutely necessary. I headed toward Craig, Co and had one of the best breakfasts I've ever had at a little place called "Drifter's Inn" in Baggs, WY. Best bacon I've ever had! Spent an hour in Craig resting and visiting the Gunfighter's Museum. Took Hwy 40 to Vernal where I'm eating a steakhouse burger at Burger King.
I've really enjoyed the Netbook I bought just before this trip. I've been able to use it a lot. Luckily, this BK has an unsecured connection, so I'm taking advantage. I also like the Spot Tracker. It's been good knowing that while I'm in the middle of nowhere my wife, family and friends can easily track my progress (and/or find my body if necessary!) I plan on taking Wolf Creek Pass home...so Robo if you're in the area, keep an eye out for me. Later.

Got a little lucky and met SATCH today. He came through my little home town on his way home from the Strom Gathering in SD. It was nice to visit with you and I hope that I can meet up with you guys this summer for some rides.
Here is a real crappy blackberry picture of SATCH rolling through town:
