Default bought an 04 with 1900 miles on it - what maintenance?

It's been ridden a bit every year and in great condition. What should I be checking (a part from the tire). Fluids? Mechanics? etc?

thanks!

Can you find out what fluids have been changed recently? If not, change them all, oil, coolant and brake fluid for both reservoirs. Check the build date on the tires. There will be four digits in an elongated oval on one sidewall. The first two are the week and the second two are the year of production. Suspect tires over 6 years old. Check for cracks in the sidewalls especially. Grease the hand lever pivots and cable barrel ends. Also grease rear brake lever and shifter linkage pivots. If it's a Vee, replace the clutch fluid.

The tire age is the last four digits of the DOT number on the sidewall. the other numbers and letters I.d. The factory, manufacturing lot, and maybe other data.

thanks guys,

Is there an online manual available for the wee? I've only owned air cooled cycles.... what's coolant?

Can I get everything I need at local motor parts store?

No online manual, that's copyright infringement. You've got to buy a copy if you want one.

I get most of my stuff from generic auto stores.

I use Zerex antifreeze for Japanese cars in a 50/50 premix, got it my local NAPA. Also just used regular DOT 4 store brand brake fluid.

No doubt, I always have a purchased manual. On the Classic GS site there are lots of old, shared owners manuals in PDF form available for download.. opposed to the haynes, etc. Just thought I would ask.

Unfortunately not the case here. Many have asked about it. I was lucky enough to have been given one from the PO when I bought my wee. They are very very useful!!

1) Change tires. They're old, and the stock tires kinda sucked anyway.

2) Change all fluids.

3) Ride.
