I have a syringe which holds about 20cc's.

I had to use it once for this.

I didn't know they made metal ones...ooooh! I'll have to get me one of those.

Funny, when I go for a quick fun ride I usually take Pinehurst up to Cambridge and stop at the Starbucks. Hmmmmm, I was thinking of doing an oil change on the ST today and I do have to warm it up after all.

Yeah I know, but it's not a question of fussy. It's rather realize that when you set your oil level while on your centre stand it will look different when the wheels are on the ground.

When I first got my new Wee one of the things I looked closely for was any sign of oil consumption as the engine broke in. First oil change I set the level while on the centre stand, and then proceeded to ride for a couple of weeks before checking it again - this time with wheels on the ground. Where the oil had been at the full level, it was now half way between full and low. Brief moment of heart flutter before it dawned on me that bike on centre stand will show a higher level. Put it up on the centre stand and sure enough it hadn't burned a drop.

And if you've lowered your bike then the difference will be even greater...

Default try

Try a turkey baster, you can slip a short piece of thin wall hose over the end and suck out whatever you need to remove.

Forest for the trees.

I just pull the fill plug and get a buddy, then we both lay the bike over at an angle and drain out the misstake from the clutch cover. I do not like removing and reinstalling oil filters when it can be done much easier.

As for being on the center stand....LMAO, it make a mm of difference and is more accurate than trying to balance the bike and look at the same time.

I use the marks on the oil containers to measure what I add before adding and just verify by the sight glass it is at the line when I am done. It has always been dead on. If for some reason I ever go over, I think I would use a small airline tube to drain some off the top.

Drain the oil, replace the filter, dump in 3 quarts of new oil, and go ride............

Been there, done that. Have a turkey baster and some fuel line in my tool box thanks to the experience.

Check your airbox too. I had oil leak up into it. Not a lot, but enough to make a mess.

Much easier to do this service with a center stand. Never had this problem with my [center stand equipped] bikes before this. Why isn't a center stand standard equipment again?!?
