Default Fuel Pump won't spin up

I have a 2006 Vstrom and recently did a few maintenance items - new plugs and air filter, etc. After I put everything back together the bike cranks but won't start. when I turn on the key, the gauges and lights come on but I don't hear the fuel pump spin up. I rechecked the electrical plugin to the tank and it is plugged in tight. Also the fuel system fuse is good.
Anyone have any ideas?

Is the clock working? If it is, you knocked something else loose while under there. The fuel pump is relay controlled. Check to see if the relay is properly connected and check if you can hear or feel it click when you turn on the ignition. If there is a message where the clock normally is, what is it? While you are under the seat, check to see it the word "UP" is on the top side of the tip over sensor (TOS). The arrow points to the fuel pump relay. The little box below it and slightly to the right near the positive battery connection is the TOS.

The clock is working with the key off but says 'Chec' when the key is on. I think this is normal.

I cannot hear the fuel pump relay click when I turn the key on. I hadn't touched the TOS when I did my maintenance work but looked at it now and it is positioned with the UP correctly.

One thing I did notice is that the headlights are not on now when I turn the key on. They have always been on before.

CHEC is not normal. The usual causes are the kill switch being off or the side stand being down with the bike in gear. The clock shows a CHEC if the ECM is not getting the proper signal to the instruments.

Ok, well that is interesting. The bike is certainly not in gear and the kill switch is not plus I put the kick stand up and still got the error message. I'm starting to wonder if the kill switch is bad.
Seems like it must be something I have done though since it happened right after I had the tank off. Thanks for the info. I'll keep looking.

Check the connector at the clutch on the bars. Mine got loose a couple of summers ago and drove me nuts. Being in GA at the time (many hours from home) didn't help matters.

The clutch connector being disconnected will not display a CHEC.
