Default hong kong WindShield need to be cut

I wanted to have a short, black windscreen for my K3 Vee, and was looking for a scrateched oem windshield to start my project, when I found this windshield on ebay. It was really cheap so I deciced to gave it a try

What the picture doesn't show is that this windshield is slightly higher, and with the bubble further ahead, It block a lot of my view. At 5'7", there is no way I coould drive safely with this windhield installed, While last seasons, I feel like the oem windshield could be painted and it wouldn't change my vision.

For those who modified windshield in the past, what kind of cutting tool do you recommend to cut it to my desired lenght ?

Default Handsaw

I would think you could use an electric jigsaw (is what I call them.....the one with the blade going up/down!!).......some may call it a Saber saw....whatever......with a metal-cutting (fine tooth) blade. Just make sure you mask off both sides of the shield with masking tape where the cut will be to prevent the saw base from scratching......then sand the edge smooth with sandpaper.

Don't feed too fast. You don't want it to get hot enough to melt and clog the teeth.

What he said..... Mask tape first, then mark, cut with a fine tooth jigsaw blade, remove tape, then use sandpaper to smooth edges. I used 220 paper then went too 400.

Cut several shields this way

I just made some mods to my after market windshield.
Like the others jigsaw and tape.
To finsh I used a Dremmel tool with a sanding drum, then a polish wheel with some paste which gives it a clean look.

I prefer to use an abrasive wheel, such as on my muffler cutoff tool. It is nice to have air tools, but the key is to use the finest cutting edge possible (largest number of teeth.) When I used to cut laminates with a circular saw, I would put the blade in backwards so it wouldn't make a chip that started a crack. Another toll, if you have it would be a router, spins fast and takes nice small bites out of the material.

How did the windshield fit in the stock mounts? I saw those on Ebay was was considering one. I have the stocker now but want something slightly longer. I'm 6'4" and my K3 also came with a Cee Bailey Tall. I hated it and sold it as there was a lot of buffeting for me and my helmet would fog instantly on a cold day because of lack of airflow.

How much longer than stock is it?

Thanks.
