after reading thru what seemed like 1000's of posts about sore butts, it's amazing I didn't find any who did what I did, fill in the nasty grooves and pockets in the seat pan,,, it just doesnt make sense to add piles of foam and gel etc without first smoothing out the base you're sitting on. smooth it out and you'll find you don't need as much foam.

My inseam is 34". I just received a Sargent seat that I had sent back to them to raise the height by an inch. Today I rode around 90 minutes and did not really feel the relief for which I had hoped, but I expect I will on a much longer ride. Look where that bird got it already while I was riding!

After 8,500 miles and 1.5 years of trying the stock seat (500 miles) then DL1000 seat (1,000 miles) and the Gel seat with/without airhawk (7,000 miles). I finally sent off for the Sargent and all I can say it WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG! Amazon for $351. I do think the ultimate comfort is the RDL for the several thousand mile trips if you can stand the look. The Sargent did not alter the look very much and after logging 700 miles with the Sargent, I will only use the airhawk very little. I do think the Bead Riders will benefit in the summer for the additional air flow. I have a 29 inch inseam and can finally flat foot without the rear suspension set all of the way down.

Thanks for the info on this. I plan to go to a bike show in Toronto this weekend but I will never find a deal like that north of the border

So did it come with the storage tube?... wonder how they can charge $50 less than the sargent site =\ I would have never expected that... If it is complete for that price i will obviously go for the amazon price.
Testing out a fellow strommers Sargent on my 09 right now...the seat height made me raise my windscreen up more than the stock to keep the wind out of my face as well as figure out a whole new way to plant my feet. They say this is the same height but wider so perhaps I just need to slide further forward, I will figure it out. It was my first ride on it this morning so a few more times will probably even out the strange feelings...but I do like how it gives my legs a better extention while sitting and at least on a 30 minute ride feels rather firm.

Bought a Sargent seat and it was the best move so far. But I am back to the beginning, because it is lower (actually better) I can flat foot on the ground but now the leg angle it very uncomfortable which makes my legs ache not to mention I have to sort out the buffeting again. So frustrating as I cannot get that perfect ride after two years of ownership.
