frame sliders

I am considering removing my engine guard and installing frame sliders. I am trying to find out how far the different brands stick out from the bike. I know a lot of guys use the SV racing sliders, they seem to stick out real far and don't look great aesthetically in my opinion (although I'm guessing they provide better protection). I also am looking at Motovation and T rex. Any first hand experience and even measurements would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

my plain sliders

My SV Racing sliders stick out 4 9/16 inches on the left and 4 3/16 inches on the right. They make a good place to put feet once in a while on longer rides. I never gave much thought to their aesthetic value since, to me, obvious functionality has its own clear aesthetic virtue. However, I'm worried that now I'm going to be looking at sliders on other bikes, wondering whether they are prettier or snazzier than mine, instead of paying attention to traffic. Curses to you!

I would also recommend the SVRacing sliders. They seem to be great quality, and in the end you want them to stick out since they are supposed to touch down if you crash. Honestly you don't really notice them once they are on the bike and like Trepidator said, they make decent impromptu highway pegs when you need to stretch out your legs for a couple minutes, they are positioned that I can stretch my leg out and rest mid calf on them.
