That is the question. Or put simply should I change my 2009 Wee for a 2006 Vee? Before I go on I will point out that I love my Wee. She does everything I've asked of her and more and only expects a little farkling now and then in return. I do however yearn for a little more power. My main co-riders have bigger machines than me, namely a GS1150A and a Tiger 1050. Both excellent bikes and lots of fun to ride. But they're not Stroms and I am a Trooper. So, the question remains, should I go to a Vee or stay on my trusty Wee? Answers on a postcard please!

I have a 1050 Tiger. IMO its a lot more bike than a Suzuki in terms of suspension, brakes and power. The Suzuki is just built to a lower price point.
That said, you seem to like Suzukis so if a little more thrust is all you need to make you happy the 1000 should supply that for you. I agree with you that the 650 puts out good power for what it is, but its still a 650. No replacement for displacement.

You will never be able to ride with your Tiger and GS friends on a 650 without a sense of shame and lack of masculinity. Upgrade to the 1000 immediately, before permanent damage is done.

Gravel road rides will make your co-riders bikes equal.

DO it!
You will get more than you loose. Your voice will deepen. Women will whisper about wanting you as you ride by. Harley pirates will buy your beer. Lesser bikes will cower at stop lights. Your fuel bill will go up. Cars will quit pulling out in front of you. Your knuckles will start dragging the ground. Hair will start growing in wierd places it never did before. Children will cry. Dogs will quit chasing you and begin runnning away. Maybe I am a bit biased though.

Yup, gotta gitcha one. Course I'm the size of bigfoot, love a bike that burps and farts, have a real jones for dated design, luv-luv-luv lubin' that chain. But, in the end, wouldn't trade her. Kinda reminds me of my first girl friend....

Some riders need more power to keep up with other bikes and some riders ride the snot out of what they have and have no problem keeping up with more powerful bikes. Others just don't care and ride their way regardless. Few use all the capabilities of what they have. One day if I'm lucky I'll become a good enough rider to use all the abilities of my DL650's and until that time I'm pretty happy with my 2012 DL650; but I'm not you. Ultimately there is no logic in the world that will give you a definate answer to your question as sometimes you just want something else. By all means look at the negatives and positives of a change but ultimately do what turns your crank and makes you feel good. Life's short.. enjoy it while you are here! ..Tom
