Thanks for all the advice folks. Much appreciated. Another conundrum has now reared its ugly head. My wife has indicated her displeasure at the possibility of me going from a K9 Wee to an 06 Vee that has almost double the mileage and to be honest her point is valid. She did however suggest I trade my Wee for a 12 Vee thus getting a newer bike. This would also mean another 5 big ones out of pocket though! Hmmm! It's all getting very difficult!

Can I also add that the reason I'm considering changing is that my large biked co-riders are fearful that my little 650 won't cope with being ridden for long periods at over 6k revs. I think the wee is quite happy with that but it does make me wonder if I'm going to kill her and I really don't want to do that!

When I bought my Vee, the thought of buying a Wee never crossed my mind. One can never have too much power. However, if I were in your shoes, I believe I would toe tap the Wee for another year, flog it good keeping up with your riding buddies, and then buy a 2014 Vee when they come out. Maybe, just maybe, Suzuki might make a few changes on issues the Vees from prior years suffered from.

Me and my wife walked in to the local mega dealer in 08 with check in hand to by a new WEE.The salesman told me he would sell me that blue left over 07 VEE for the exact same price OTD!
I bought the VEE,wish I had stuck to the plan and bought the WEE,but I've made the best of it for 50,000 miles so far.. Sent from my iPhone using Motorcycle.com App

I just read the SV cam swap thread. Keep the Wee, do the cam-swap, if you want more power, get a PC tuned correctly, and maybe get a different exhaust. Your Power-to-weight ratio will be improved, and not as much difference between the bigger bike and an upgraded 650. Engines are not like human beings....running at 6000 rpm all day long isn't like trying to run at 60% of your maximum foot-speed. It's a non-issue for these bikes.
Dang...I just learned my 2012 has a different cam than the older models. Guess I won't be fooling around with cam-swapping on this bike after all! Last edited by Blackheart; 12-17-2012 at 10:19 PM. Reason: I was edumacated about my cams.... |

Thanks all. I have decided I'll stick with my Wee for now and continue farkling. Might wait until the new Vee comes out and see what it's like. Thanks again for all your words of wisdom.
