Yeah I think I will get the Suzuki. But two more questions.
It seems from the forums the Vee does not run as well as the Wee, is that correct? If that is true what's the reason |

Not every place offers a test ride and those that do are very controlled. If you have doubts you should rent one for a day. There is a place in Ashville (Carolina Motorcycle Rentals) that rents Stroms. If you spend a full day on it you will know for sure if it's the bike for you and avoid remorse later.

Emissions control. The Vee engine design is older and emissions weren't really considered in engine designs when it was created. As a result, it has to be run leaner than optimal for performance to meet emissions requirements. That being said, most seem to run okay when carefully adjusted.

Thanks renting one is a great idea. I forgot to list my second question. Is ABS worth it? I have never had a bike with abs.

I think I have decided on the Super Tenere. It is a little more than the Vee, but has way more pluses, ABS, traction control, etc.
Thanks for the help.... |

because vee turns 1500+ less rpm's than wee per same mph. iow's, peeps are probably lugging the engine on the vee. and for good reason too. 5k rpm on vee equals 95 mph per the speed-o. it took me a while to get used to the DL1 long legs. especially the 6th. gear OverDrive. but once i got used to keeping the rpm's up around or above 4k, most of the problems just simply went away.

Steve - I just made the same jump from a Shadow. I bought the Vee because I needed more metal around me. I just didn't feel as comfortable on a 650. Didn't have anything to do with speed, horsepower or accessories. Just the feel. The Tenere was too much off road for my tastes. It "seemed" to be too high off the ground.
