Default New V strom Big DL 1000

Howdy from Texas.
purchased the DL 1000 (RED)on Sat the 23 of June 2012. Awesome machine.
I'm a daily rider so it is a blast to ride.
No Farkle as of yet but am shopping on Ebay.
Is there a way to increase the volume of the stock pipes without too much cutting or welding? I'm one of those folks that likes to be heard. Motorcyclists are invisible so i like folks to be aware me.
I live in Hurst,Tx. (Metroplex to some)
Also any recommendations for a comfortable seat? There is a GEL seat by Suzuki and was wondering if that might be the way to go.

All the Best Everyone,
Malcolm Duke
Hurst,Tx.

Default Hello from Asheville, NC

Malcom Duke from the Metroplex,

Hey Man. Greetings from Asheville, NC. My name is Scott Fair aka Snakefoot, and if everything goes according to plan, I'll be buying a nicely farkled 2002 DL1000 this weekend. Like you, I like a little rumble in my exhaust note. I'm not sure it's much of a safety advantage in terms of other motorists hearing you without out going Full On Harley Obnoxious (FOHO), but a throaty rumble lets you know you're riding a motorcycle and not a sewing machine.
The bike I'm getting has the following mods/accessories
*Givi hard bags
*Taller windshield with laminar lip
* Ohlins shock
* Aftermarket front suspension mods
* Heated grips
* Sargent seat
I'll check your post to see what other members suggest for exhaust mods...

Stay cool down there, brother

SF

Search the site for "peashooter" and you'll find a noise-increasing mod.

The gel seats are notorious for storing heat and toasting asses. I'd look at an Airhawk or Beadrider setup instead since you're in TX.

Gday dukester1955

Nice ride, zuast mod is simple.

Just to correct you, the DL weighs in 40-60 kilos lighter than most other adventure bikes so it is the biggest V-Strom but one of the lightest adventure bikes...

Warning on the Gel seats. The one I had on my SV (Suzuki part) after getting on about 5 minutes into the ride your butt just gets hotter and hotter, so much heat retention it's crazy, but you can learn to live with it.
