Default G'day from Perth, Western Australia

Picking up a new 09/10 Wee-Strom, Orange, from the stealer in... 5 hours 20 mins and ... um... about 26 secs.

Been riding for about 20 years but all on 250's and haven't had a bike for 3 or so years... way too long out of the saddle.
My poor old (1966) Morris 1100 sedan was just getting too unreliable and expensive to maintain as a run-about, despite the fact that she runs on the smell of an oily rag.
So, upgraded my licence to open class and handed over the hard earned for something a little younger and with the correct number of wheels

Mostly I commute via a man-powered two-wheeler, but for the longer trips (read : anything above about 10km) or for when I need to carry something bigger than a backpack or mustn't arrive hot and sweaty, the Orange Wee will be used...

... and then there's country runs, trips and trails to look forward to.

Many thanks for the informative forum, I'll be working my way through the info available, via the search engine, and will try not to ask to many stupid questions.

Marty

PS Might even occasionally post my trials and tribulations for your entertainment/laughter too!

I visited Perth area for two weeks in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The summer vacationers had just gone away and everyone was tired of the beach, so I had hundreds of miles of beach to myself for two weeks--it was wonderful.

I wish I had a Strom during that visit, the weather was perfect and there were lots of interesting places to explore, but I had a rental car and amused myself with short day trips around the area.

Welcome to this site--you will find it amusing and full of good info. I notice the Aussie regional thread is quite active and should be very enjoyable.

The Strom in your future will be an excellent choice, there are no bad Stroms, and as you will find they are nearly infinitely adjustable, so you will get it set up perfectly for yourself and go on to many enjoyable experiences.

I really wanted to go north up the coastline--I heard that is very interesting with lots of 'touristy' things to see. Keep us up to date on your adventures.

Thanks for the "Hello" Biggyfries.

60km on the clock now and so far.

Perth has a very good climate for motorbikes but lacks some serious hills and associated twisty roads. We have a few but not as many as I'd like. To balance it out we have lots of straight, flat sections

Jeez the world is a big place

Had a quick look on Google Earth to find out where College Place was. Looks like a bit of an agricultural oasis surrounded by bad lands. All those rotary irrigators, using the water from the Columbia River I guess.

Must be great rides along the Columbia River Hwy too. Ooh, zoomed out a bit further and I see you are between the Pacific Ocean and the Rockies. Great rides all round but must be pretty wet in summer and cold in winter?
