Smile Greetings from Oz

G'day all,

I'm a grey-haired 56yo from Western Australia, and new to V-Stroms, having bought a K7 DL650 as a Christmas present to myself last December. My bike experience dates back to the 70s but the last one was let go shortly after the kids came along in the late-80s.

My younger brother does a lot of trips with friends and solo, and I'd always had a hankering to join him on a few. He suggested the bike, and I did a little research after sitting on a demo at the local shop. The world-wide enthusiasm for them had me easily convinced, and I put my money down without a qualm. I'm still running it in, riding to work nearly every day, and preparing it for a ride east to the Nullarbor Plain, and south to Israelite Bay, then home via Esperance, in late March. About 2000km (two thirds on bitumen, the rest on gravel and dirt).

The 650 is a great commuter, and I'm enjoying reading about the travels undertaken by other riders around the world, while preparing for my own.

Cheers to all.

A Newbi intro

Took delivery of my new DL650 abs on Saturday. So far only able to ride it home (25miles). Sold my '98 Concours to make room, kept my '94 VFR and '75 CB550f. Too many toys not enough time. I do enjoy reading your posts.

What if people dont want to fill out there profile? You ask some personal questions, like my occupation, where I live, hobbies. What does my occupation have to do with this forum, non the less my hobbies and where I live(and no, i dont want another fellow forum member to come over and help me with repairs or group riding, because I know that is what your gonna say about the "were you live" part.)? Getting kind of personal dont you think? Im only here on the forums to better my knowledge of repair, upgrades, stuff about the bike, Im not intrested in anyone profile what so ever, I dont see what the big deal is. Im not here to make friends, Im here to better my knowlodge about my bike and thats all.
