Love the V Strom, I'm very close to buy this motorcycle, $3800 the only thing I'm not happy about is Tires and no ABS, but the rest looked pretty good. Do you guys think is a good price?
...I just found an 08 abs with full service complete (valve check) for 4K in 3 min after reading this post...this body style wee I think you can get a better deal. Remember, tire wear, and valve checks aren't cheap, and I think personally I'd hold out for abs. All depends on your budget, just remember, tire condition and valve check requirement costs when factoring your budget.
It looks like a nice bike and while all the add-ons don't change the resale value on paper it may save you a lot down the road. I just bought a 12 with abs and honestly its nice to have but I couldn't care less.
You didn't include where you live and it's not shown on your profile, but you will notice that prices vary a LOT between different parts of the country. What may be a okay price one place is either high or low elsewhere. Just the law of supply and demand....
Not to start another debate about first gen versus second gen or ABS versus no ABS, but having owned both - I personally would opt for a gen 2 (2012 and newer), which includes ABS.
As mentioned, farkles don't add much value BUT if they are the ones you want/need, they certainly save you a bunch of money after the purchase.
Got a one owner 09 with 26,000 for $2,700 after a $3,800 asking price. All looks and works good.Skid plate, center stand.22 shield ,bar set backs, tires, nice soft side bags, chain and sprockets look real good.No ABS ,it was a option.PO was younger than me at 68 but bet at 71 I ride harder.:grin2:
My 2011 has ABS but think all did my then? The main thing for me about extras is if its what you would want makes them worth more. Price sounds about right to me. ABS not a deal breaker for me.Valve check not that hard but the change takes awhile as cams must be moved. My 011 with 56,000 has never had one yet.Checked at 30,000 but was dead on. I usually just keep riding my bikes as long as they sound the same, same mpg, start and run same. Good luck on finding one like you want at right price.:smile2:
I bought my V-Strom, and I love it! I ended up buying another one for $3500 very similar, the guy gave me a Jacket, some heated gear an extra Gel seat, Givi Luggage, engine guards, heated grips, all the add-ons I wanted (besides The skid plate).
First impressions? I love it, I didn't take the time to get used to the seat height and the weight and it cost me the LH turn signal, but I'm in love. I'm planning a trip from Baltimore to South Carolina (Solar Eclipse) and I cannot wait.

Nice! How's the mileage? What year? Many will give you good advice here on taking your small investment and keeping it running in like new condition for many many years to come. I have a '12 650, but from my experience they are reliable as anything with the right maintenance, and could help you work out some let's just say quirks of the bike with some inexpensive solutions. Congrats again, nice work shopping around!
Nice bike from what I could see from those tiny pictures, great job!
