After an 8 year hiatus I'm back on two wheels!

New member here from Southern AZ. I guess you could say Father's day was 'OK' since I picked up a new bike today!

I've ridden on and off my whole life, both street and dirt. Had to sell my last bike when my first child was born. Timing was finally right to get a new ride and a great deal on an 05 650 came up. Drove 75 miles to see it and then rode it back in 100+ degree heat through the back roads and highways. Saw some beautiful country that I've never seen before but now I'm whipped! Bike came with Givi cases all around it, engine guard, skid plate, and some other extras that I'm still sorting through. Very happy and excited to start digging into the forums!

I saw your welcome post and meant to reach out to you. I'm in Sahuarita, recently relocated from Marana. Whereabouts are you?

Oh, I also meant to add a 'thanks' to my previous post but don't see an edit button. I appreciate the warm reception!

I would imagine it's a bit cooler in Sahuarita than Marana but those 100+ days will take a toll on you, I'm in Hereford so we are relatively close.

Welcome. Most the old group I ride with have taken a five to ten year break in 40-50 years but I never have and are like dope to me in a every day ride.At my age a every day nap is usually a sure thing all so. The wee is the best over all swiss army knife of motorcycles made IMO. Solo great tour bike and every one of them in my old coot bunch has been to Alaska. Have fun and lots of good tips here.

I drove right past you then to pick up the bike. It was in Bisbee. I've never been there before, it was a pretty drive, I'd love to do it again when it's a bit cooler and take my time going through the hills.
