I like the Aprilia, but it looks like it is not offered here in the states. But I like the Dorsoduro being offered here.

If they offered it in a 1000 might have to say good bye to the Vee. Sorry for Hi-jacking the thread but the Aprilia really looks nice.

Hello,
I just bought a Vstrom 650 and I am 5'5 with about the same seam. I was able to touch with my tippy toes but I did end up getting a lowering kit. I lowered it about a inch and that helped. She is probably not going to flat foot the bike ever, but she will feel comfortable when she shifts her weight to the side. |

There are a lot of short guys riding bikes who are on 'tip toes' when they stop. This does not stop them riding.
Bikes are built for standard height humans. If you are shorter then you have to adjust. A friend has just lowered her VFR and I tried to talk her out of it. I am 1.72 metres and she is only slightly shorter than me. You need to get used to it. If you do not then your choice of future motorcycles will be VERY limited. I see a lot of women who stop riding after 2 years. I was only a mediocre rider after 2 years and not a good rider for 5 years (I ride every day). Becoming a good rider is about experience. If you just ride on the weekends then you will not get to this point for 10 years or more. Consider riding just 20 minutes every day. And do it on a standard bike. Dirt bikes are another story, seemingly built for standard humans plus 6 inches. I am on tip toes on my DR650 but this is a lighter bike. I have no problems with it. .

I absolutely love the ride and am determined to make this work. I am an every day rider, and it took me a while to even look at the DL650 because of it's height, but after riding it I really liked it and wanted one... I searched for and bought a used one. I think it is just going to take riding it a lot to get up the confidence level.... I may lower it more if I need to. As much as I love the ride, if I can't adjust to it I will most likely end up selling it. Last edited by soapartist; 07-17-2010 at 12:48 PM. |

I'm selling my Wee which has been lowered and was fine for me until I bought an 88 Honda Hawk GT. Perfect ergonomics, plenty of power, nimble, loaded up with character, and I'm flat footed. The Wee started sitting in the garage gaining weight by the day, so it might as well go to someone who will ride it as much as I ride the Hawk now.
Can't tell you how much fun this "new" bike is. A street bike as fun to ride as my dirt bikes?? Never thought there was such a thing. As soon as I get 20 posts you'll see it on this forum for sale. |

The Hawk GT is a seriously cool bike. Good choice!
