Odd choice of words sensei. This is a commercial site, collecting fees, showing ads. One does not 'donate' to a commercial enterprise, one 'pays a fee for a service'.

I'd like a refund too. I asked for a bit of support for a broken piece of functionality, and one of the volunteer moderators forwarded it to the mysterious 'Phil' who said something indefinite about 'looking onto it' and then has ignored me since. This has been going on for about a month.

If this was a volunteer-run site I'd happily donate and support and I'd chill out if it took a bit of time to respond to a request, but it's not. They should step up and do their work and not leave it to you and the other volunteer mods to handle.

I want to be clear: Greywolf and Fatalerror and the other moderators are amazing and do a great job of maintaining this site and I appreciate and value you all.

N.

I consider it a donation because it is not a requirement like a fee for service would be. Contributing increases the value of the site for me as far as my psyche is concerned as opposed to paying which is ordinary. Whatever works for each individual will vary and is valid for each. It's only when expectations and reality clash that the fun is reduced. In my case, there is a lot of carry over from when the site was owned by Brendan, an outstanding bloke.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles.

After being ripped off by a site (not StromTrooper) I ended my PayPal account and sent a check toVerticleScope. When renewal is due I imagine I will be notified?

I doubt that. I just do site contributions at year end myself.

If this works like I think it does, anyone who signed up for Paypal twice in their entire history of donating here without cancelling the previous subscription will be double billed.

That sounds like what is happening.......I was double-billed also, but they refunded my $20 within a day or two of being notified, no problem. I believe I "donated" previously....probably alittle $$$......more than once (usually if I sold something here).

I was finally able to talk with customer service rep at Paypal, was finally able to find out what this was. Auto renewal from Stromtrooper. Now, this was fine, I always support the site. But,my complaint is, there should be a notice emailed BEFORE this takes place, and, or, the name on the charge should be something the members recognize.
If a notice was sent I didn't see it, just wanted to save this hassle for anyone else by sending this, I know I get excited when someone is fooling around with my money, I imagine most people do!

Thanks for a great site.
AGREED. I just went through this too, and upon searching I find that there are tons of inquiries pertaining to Verticalscope. Why isn't there something on this site or in the renewal email that I received, that says "VERTICALSCOPE IN IAT PAYPAL" will show up on your bank account!? OR put it somewhere in your account status area like "Premium Membership status (paid through verticalscope)..."
*********** end of rant **********

NOTE: Also wanted to add that I DID receive an email stating I was going to be charged for my membership or I could cancel. I have tried, but can't find the email now. That's the ONLY thing that brought me to the Stromtroop site to investigate. I just remembered the fee was $20 and the charge in question was $20.

I have no problem donating for my premium membership, but I have now been double billed for the second straight year, last year nothing was done and I could afford to eat it..this year I cannot... I have PM'd the administrator to have these charges refunded, and am awaiting a response....

I just received a notice from Paypal that my charge to Vertical Scope did not go through, and my subscription was cancelled. When I checked out my PayPal account (I use PayPal often), everything was up to snuff and current, including my associated credit card. Anybody know how this could happen? I don't know what to do other than go here and upgrade my subscription again, but I had it set to recurring for the past four years. Thanks
