I still like my version better. It's not as quick but the results are cleaner and the search only returns results that include an image.

Lean, accelerate, rinse and repeat.

Is there a better way to view all of your own recent posts? You know . . . . so incase you made a witty comment in a thread three days ago and didn't think to check for replies . . . you can make a list of stuff you've posted in.

and when i say better way . . . i mean better than just doing Search > Advanced Seach > and putting own username in the 'find posts by username' field

You also have the option of subscribing to threads that you post in. You will get emails when responses are made based on what option you select when you subscribe.

In the Advanced Editor look down the page and you will see the Notification Type option box.

Actually yes you can. You can get as specific as you like, as long as you use the exact string that's in the url (as opposed to the forum title as it's displayed on the page). For instance, entering
site:stromtrooper.com/general-v-strom-discussion/ how to search
at google returns only results from the General V-Strom Discussion forum.

Note: You can't use this method in the google search box on this site, only at google.com or in your browser's search bar. I guess that should be obvious, since doing it while already on the site would be redundant.

And in testing this, I just noticed something I don't remember google doing before: it returned hits with synonyms of the search terms highlighted. Try it, you'll see the words "find", "look", and "check" highlighted in some of the results. Maybe google has been doing this for a while, and I never noticed because there are usually plenty of hits for the exact search terms?

"I am enthusiastic over humanity's extraordinary and sometimes very timely ingenuities. If you are in a shipwreck and all the boats are gone, a piano top buoyant enough to keep you afloat that comes along makes a fortuitous life preserver. But this is not to say that the best way to design a life preserver is in the form of a piano top.
I think we are clinging to a great many piano tops in accepting yesterday's fortuitous contrivings as constituting the only means for solving a given problem." - R. Buckminster Fuller
