Do you remember this?
Trip in the USA - mokusbajusz' Tale Well, it seems the dream comes true again! ![]() PonchoV has invited me and I could manage to get a ticket. Between 22 October and 1 November I'm in Florida and New Mexico checking the grip of his bikes on some american asphalt and backroads. Hopefully I can make some photograph and post my reports here. Who knows, maybe I can even meet again with some of the "old farts" from this forum?

After 17 hours and 3 flight changes I landed to JAX where PonchoV already waited for me. Delta screwed up my baggage i.e. loaded to the next plane so we decided to wait for it and had a beer. It was a great moment to meet each other after 5 years. PonchoV looks still the same, he is in a very good shape.
We drove home where his wife waited for us with some fine home made food then I went for a long sleep. The next day we went to Tank's Family BBQ for lunch. The owners Wanda and Pat are very friendly folks and the food was fantastic. ![]() ![]() In the afternoon we loaded the Sprinter and the trailer with a bunch of bikes and stuff for the coming rides in New Mexico. The dinner tasted at least that good in the Club. Thank you Marianne for the invitation! ![]() Early in the morning, ready to leave Florida and begin the long journey to NM. We met with an old friend Judy at Bonify, 5 hours west from JAX. Last edited by mokusbajusz; 11-03-2012 at 03:49 PM. |

The road to NM was about 1800 miles. We drove alternately without stopping to sleep, we rather had some naps in the Sprinter. Man, that was exhausting and took approximately 36 hours.
Luckily we had a 3rd co-driver, Carson who helped us a lot not to fall asleep. Heading to the Wild West! Searching for some cheap gas at a business loop somewhere in Texas. One of the very few short brakes. Finally arrived to Truth or Consequences, NM and unloaded the trailer. |

Our host was Colleen, an amazing lady, who took care of me like I was her grandson.
She even knows the ADV greeting: I fall in love with her J20 Jeep. So did Carson. We made a short round on some close dirt roads with the truck. Hey, that Jeep is capable! It even can swim Crossing the Rio Grande: Water crossing Jeep J20 - YouTube Colleen would have open a restaurant, her foods are unbelievably fine and besides healthy. Relaxing after the first day. to be continued... Last edited by mokusbajusz; 11-03-2012 at 05:13 PM. |
