Default July: Leaving Oklahoma heading for Newfoundland.

The Plan: July 20-22 be at Lexington, Ohio for the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days and then head northeast. No set day to be anywhere after that. Time allowed about 3 weeks. Want to see Nova Scotia (been there once), PEI, NFL, Labrador, Quebec, and Great Lakes. Any suggestions on places to see/stay, stop/eat at, local events, or roads to ride would be helpful in planning a route. Rode my Wee to the Smokies and on to D.C. last year. I have done several long distance touring trips over the years on other bikes, but this will be my first big trip on my '04.

Default newfoundland

Check out the web site "Ride the Rock" and you should get plenty of information. If you get a good day make sure you do Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. Also, you may want to make the ferry reservation just in case you pick a busy day/ night or weekend. I took the short ferry from North Sydney to Port aux Basques (6 hours) and had a smooth trip. Gros Mourne National Park was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. If you go on to Labrador and do the Trans Lab and need some further information just let me know.

Give us the heads-up before you hit NS. There's a good sized group of Strom/Dualsport riders here that would be more than happy to gtg for the opportunity to show off some of the finer places to ride in our dear province. We can show you all the best places to eat too!

Thanks for the info and the invite. But it looks like it'll be next summer. My best ridin' bud talked me into going west this year with him and another bike. Yellowstone, Glacier Nat. Park, and ride the Pacific coast down to San Francisco. Leaving 6-15-12.
I'll keep you two in mind. I'd love to ride with some locals on my trip. And yes, I plan to to do the Trans Lab. Maybe there'll be a few less miles of gravel by next summer.

While you are there, go to Vancouver Island and NW Washington. Mt St. Helens, Hood in Oregon, etc.
So jealous. I did all of that once and would give anything to do it once more.

Don't miss the little town of Ferndale. It's the start of the "Lost Coast"segment. Just below Eureka. Also the Samoa Cook House just to the west of Eureka.

I won't be going anywhere soon. Had a "Deer" accident Saturday night. No broken bones. Just sore and scraps. Givi guard and bags kept the Wee sliding with little damage. Need a new front left sig.
I was on V Island in '95 and wanted to ride it again. The NW is a beautiful area.
