Default It Makes for a Great Date, Two-Up

Our riding season is in full swing…. Still looking to ride over to the Eastern part of AZ, then the V-Strom rally in Montrose and our big trip this summer to the Pacific Northwest.

Many motorcycle riders, ride solo… I did for years. Riding two-up can be one of motorcycling’s great experiences, especially if you and your passenger of choice enjoy a trip across a few state lines.

Riding two-up is a great way to share the pleasures of motorcycling for even a day ride.

In my view, a “motorcycle-date” is the best date. It starts with a spirit that is full of excitement….. a great way to begin any day of riding…..

An appreciation for shared riding and open roads has been the topic of many of our conversations over many shared miles.

Conversations about landmarks, the country side in general, the people you meet, all of this and more as you ride en route to your destination.

We seem to arrive feeling invigorated from the days ride…. ready to continue more conversations of the day and what tomorrow brings. It’s become pretty clear, I’m no longer a solo rider.

I enjoy immensely when we stop…. shut off the bike, and dismount. Then when we remove and pull off our helmets, I’m greeted with a big smile and kiss.

My rider is a great date, my partner-in-life…. who isn’t simply along for the ride….

She’s a co-rider. And as in life in general, she too shares responsibilities for the safe operation of the motorcycle. Two-up riding is a team sport, and that means working together to make the ride both safe and fun.

Yes, two-up makes for a great date…..

You folks sure are blessed. While my wife and I don't share the same enthusiasm for motorcycles we still find pleasure in sharing the "ride" all the same. I appreciate who she is, how she lives her life and raises our children more and more everyday and every year. Life is good.
Thanks for sharing.

We do both... camp and stay in motels or a B&B... We like the KOA campgrounds along the Calif/Oregon/Washington coast a lot. (Oregon State parks are grand!) We try and rent a cabin at the KOA... that way we just take backpacking pillows, backpacking towels, a fitted sheet and fleece blanket that packs into a small dry bag. You can do laundry when needed, they have showers and internet to stay in touch with friends and family. Mer is very good about packing light and has it down to a science... this is a photo of the bike packed for a 5 week trip
