Default Toronto to Bangkok on DL1000K6

Flew in May with the bike from YYZ to Frankfurt using motorcycle express. Met up with my buddy on a Africa Twin in Rotterdam. Our route Holland-Belgium-Germany-Czech Rep - Austria - Hungary - Romania - Bulgaria - Greece- Turkey- Iran- Pakistan- India- Nepal. Flew to Bangkok and travelled from there to Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia. No major problems with bike. Comfort level A+ but I would choose a KLR to do this again. The bike is simply too bulky for roads in the east;
Following mods were done before departure:
Caribou hard bags - premium bags by Pelican, 100% waterproof, unbelievably tough, extremely easy to remove to take inside after a days ride, lockable, etc.
Givi top box. Cheesy but functional
Telefix Super brace fork brace.
Adventure Moto-stuff Engine protector.
Givi engine guard.
PowerLet BMW style accessory power outlet.
Cigarette lighter outlet
California Scientific medium tall wind screen
Noj fork protectors (foam for wrap). Helps prevent fork tube damage.
Progressively wound WIRTH Fork Springs
Touratech Steel Headlight Guard
Touratech aluminum radiator protection
Suzuki GEL seat
Renthall aluminium Handlebars
Braided Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Hyperpro & spring Shock[/b] - Major improvement over stock[/b]
Airhorn
Acerbis Handguards

Sounds interesting! Do you have a photo album and a more detailed ride report somewhere on the web?

+1 this is very interesting as I was planning on a similar route in Summer of 2011. Very interested to know some more details like how much it costs for insurance for the bike, carnet cost? And more detailed route? Impressions? Lol too much to ask?

Any problems with the bike at all?

cheers
Andy

Will send post video's & pix shortly. Insurance is reasonable. 3rd party coverage only. Carnets can be obtained through AAA in US or CAA in Canada . Cost is depending on the countries you plan to visit as they differ quite a bit. No carnet needed for Thailand but you must leave w/i 30 days. Failure to do so will cost you a fortune

Default Thailand pix

I find myself having precious little time for the internet. Attaching some more pix from various parts of Northern Thailand; Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son offers some of the most scenic windy roads anywhere. 350 km of seemingly a GP circuit to Mea Hong Son. If you have a chance to visit the area bikes are readily available for rent for about $ 25.- a day but be careful as there is no insurance coverage.
