I have been waiting for the release of the GoPro Hero 3 before buying a video cam. Now that it is out, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it, and what the opinions are? Is it a significant improvement over the Hero 2? What do you like or dislike?

I only have experience with the Go Pro Naked, in August wife bought it for my B-day. I had it for 2 hours and returned it. Didn't like the roundish photo's it took, unit also will not show you how much room is left - pictures or video....I would have had to take a laptop with me on a week trip to colorado - only way to empty GoPro. Didn't know if camera was properly mounted c/o shot. ( Too hi?? Too low....etc) , no screen to look at. Total waste of money personally.

Love my hero 3 silver, iPhone in clear map pocket of tankbag is viewfinder.

The panorama of the lens is signature hero but had been toned down for the hero 3.

You get about 10 min per gigabyte in high def.

I carry 2 32 gig micro sd cards with me.

So far I dig it.

I have the Hero 3 Silver and just love it.... no previous experience with other make or mdl.

16GB SD micro card allows nearly 7 hours of video...

I've had the Hero 2 for a year and just got the Hero 3 Black for Christmas.

Initial thoughts:

Much less fish eye effect than the 2

Better in low light than the 2

The interface using either the iPhone app or touch screen backpack is much better than cycling through using two buttons

The camera itself does not seem as tough as the 2, but since its in the bomb proof case most of the time that's not a big deal.
