Default Firstgear heated socks

Just tried out my new Firstgear heated socks (also known as WarmandSafe). I already have the Synergy Heated pant liner and vest and heated grips, but my feet always suffered on those long cold rides.

The first thing I noticed (and was sorta warned about from other reviews) is how far out the sizing is. I ordered as per the guide and recieved a medium size. They are tight, I would definatly order the next larger size. They are a fitted sock, not a tube and are way too small at the ankle (they have a velcro strap which is way to short).

I put on almost 400km today, starting out at around +3 celsius. My sock is plugged directly into the bottom of my synergy pant liner, which in turn is plugged into my synergy vest and controlled by the single device supplied with each synergy liner. Even on low, my feet were very quickly waaaay too hot. I zipped back home and put on a thin sock under the heated sock. Now the heat is just right.

I am not sure what kind of material the sock is made from, but they do feel fairly delicate (although they are claimed to wick moisture), so keep your nails trimmed!.....

These socks heat the top of your foot, and are 9 watts each. I have no prob on my Wee using my vest, pant and socks at the same time, as well as my heated grips. If ever need be, I can shut off one headlight (already switched).

The real nice thing about the sock, besides the fact that they actually work, is that there are no noticable wires inside the sock to annoy your feet.

Again, if you decide to get some, order one size larger than what the chart indicates.

Overall, I am very pleased with the performance.

Cheers!

I bought a pair of heated insoles, but have yet to use them. Socks seemed like more work because you have to clean them regularly.

At 20 degrees F, I'm only good for 90 minutes with no heat in the boots.
