I decided to check out the new Knox Handroid gloves. Here are some first impressions.
The gloves, note the 'cute' #1 on the index finger: ![]() Overall impression is that it is a good quality glove when looking at the leather, stitching and overall construction. These are size XL. They seem to run a bit smaller, my other XL gloves (First Gear leather gloves) certainly are less tight but fit is good. For some reason the thumb on these gloves is quite large compared to the other fingers. The sliders on the palm side do not seem to interfere with throttle/clutch control (I only have about 15 miles on them so far). ![]() ![]() I do like the wrist protection/sliders. In addition to the BOA lace system there is a velcro strap. I am pretty confident that these gloves won't come off in a crash. ![]() Now for all the stuff on the back of the hand that makes you look like the terminator. My understanding is that all that is meant to slide and wear away on the pavement instead of your skin and knuckles wearing away. The black sliders on the back that slide back and forth are not meant to prevent hyper extension of the fingers, they are far to flimsy for that. ![]() The white piece of plastic is cosmetic only. ![]() The gauntlet (if that is the correct term) is quite wide and will easily fit over most jackets. I think that the BOA lace system will keep the wrist protection in place during a crash since I do not expect significant straight on pulling on the laces. They are plastic coated steel cables. ![]() I felt no interference using throttle and clutch, even with all the 'stuff' on the back of the hand. They are quite comfortable. There is some airflow but not much, so in the summer they will be pretty warm. The gloves are not waterproof. It takes a little more time to put them on but I don't think it is that bad. Conclusion: good quality glove with good wrist protection. How well these will protect in an accident? I can only speculate on that. Are they 'infinitely' superior to some of the high end gloves available? Not sure. What I would have liked to see is leather between the pinky and ring finger. They are certainly better than the summer gloves they replace. I hope I wont get to 'test' them anytime soon. Are they overkill for street riding? Not for me but maybe to some, considering in the past couple of days I have seen a staggering number of riders in short sleeves, shorts, no gloves and flip flops ![]() If anyone wants specific close up pictures of any part of the glove let me know. I'm sure some will find these gloves a gimmick and some won't, I'd love to hear opinions. I also purchased Icon field armor knee/shin protectors since the 'armor' in my riding pants was either pathetic (mesh pants) or moved all over the place. The seem like good protection but the elastic straps are WAY to short and do not seem very durable, I will be modifying them shortly. I find these unbearable on naked skin. It is a tough fit in my Sidi Vertigo rain boots. There is some hard stitching in the knee cup that can dig into your skin. Overall decent protection but I find them far from comfortable and they will stay in place only if you really tighten the straps. It is a pain to put all this gear on but a small price to pay if it enables you to walk away from a crash..........

I paid $249 for them. They have a few toned down versions as well at $150.

They look a little over the top for me.... but...
I do like the look of the gauntlet part, it looks like they have some well molded armor there. I imagine you could take a pretty good hit on your wrist and not crush all the bones. Most other gloves I've used you might get a little extra padding (or extra plastic) on the wrist, but it's decorative. Not crazy about the wire straps but to each his own. I'm sure you'll be well protected in a crash.

Let us know how they hold up in the rain.

The glove looks like motoX gear. I was wondering if that "white thing" somehow controlled air intake.

If with 'white thing' you mean the piece of plastic on the back of the hand, no, it serves no purpose at all. It is just for looks. There is not a whole lot of airflow and they are not waterproof. You'd need the ZERO version of the gloves.
