Been on the BRP this week. The weather, foliage, and company was great. This was the only "Parkway' I've ever ridden that wasn't a toll road
Met up with Stromin'Nroman today for a couple of hours on his home turf and he showed me his private "Dragon" course. I screwed up and had the GoPro on still shots instead of video, so what would have been Oscar Wilde footage, is only some stills, but still nice shots Norm and me and a rider we met at a rest area. I finished the BRP around 5PM and started back to NJ. Will get a room for the night and try to make it home tomorrow. ![]() ![]() A reversed IPhone shot ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Gary,
It was a pleasure to meet, eat and ride with you. It was a nice day, I wish I could have hung out longer but my phone was blowing up with anxious clients. How far did you get down the Parkway? Nice shots, however, they all seem to make my butt look big. Cheers, Norm

I'll miss it from after the first snow through late April.

I recommend for most people with limit time, do from mile marker 350 down to the end. I'm thinking of maybe a camping trip, r/v or tent, and exploring more backroads in the areas. Maybe I'll hire Stromin'Nroman for a guide Last edited by Supatramp; 10-28-2012 at 08:28 PM. |

Norm is a most excellent guide/host. He tends to stick around longer if you buy him a good meal and a beer.
This was the first year out of the last four I didn't make it to the parkway. Hope to make it out next year.

That he is, and he bought for me. I will return to the BRP and gladly do the same for him. I really enjoyed my ride on the parkway, way more than I had anticipated.

Some time when we both have a little more time, I'd like to give you the full tri-county tour. (Search for Donromer's thread about the area for the route.) ![]() Over Mr. Tramp's shoulder is the gas station where we met his new girlfriend. Somebody should remind her.

I was on the Blue Ridge 3 weeks ago. Picked it up north of North Wilksboro and rode it to Roanoke VA. Spent the night and let the GPS pick the roads back to Rocky Mount NC. The ride south east out of Roanoke was almost as good as the BRP. There were so many motorcycles it looked like bike week at Myrtle Beach. Only bad thing was a pickup truck driven by a teenager was crossing the BRP as I came around a corner. I stood it on the front tire and held down the horn button. We actually made contact before we both managed to veer off in opposite directions. I went off on the shoulder, luckily it was an inside one and managed to keep upright. Must have been angels holding me up. No damage to me or the wee other than a scuff mark on the side case and handle bar slider where we touched. Did kind of ruin my ride for a few miles.
