Very nice production, thanks. (Other than making sure to secure the camera) any suggestions on choice of video cam?

Since someone's already asked a "how'd you do that" Q: What do you use for editing?
Videos are very, very well produced and quite entertaining. I've sub'ed to your yoootobe 'channel' and watched a few of the older vids too. Looks like you guys have a helluva time out there.

Thanks for the replies guys, and thanks for watching! I couldn't really promote one kind of cam over another, cause there are now dozens of choices out there, and when we started there were hardly any (at least under $1000). We each started with Samsun SC-X models (no longer offered), and at the time they were hard to find and pretty hot shit. now anyone can pick up a Contour or GoPro at Best Buy. Hammy and I were both pleased with the image quality coming off the DriftHD Stealth. The downside we found with that unit was the mount (obviously), the lack of a safety strap (might not have lost the cam), and it's size. The drift offered as "features" an external mic and integrated display screen, nither of which we ever used. We probably would have used the mic eventually, but I didn't like the fact it wouldn't take a standard 3.5mm mic input (only the proprietary Drift mic), and you can't close the rear panel when the mic is plugged in. The contourHD 1080 is smaller and has (in our opinion) better mounting equipment, but image quality seemed a little flat compared to the Drift. There are new models of both of those cams coming out that will address some of those beefs, and of course many others out there that we haven't even tried.
As far as editing....that's evolved almost as much as the cameras. BT2008 was edited with Windows Movie Maker, BT2009 and 2010 were done with Adobe Premiere Elements 7, and BT2011 so far has been done with Adobe Premiere Pro. That may all change for next year, as work just bought me a mind-numbingly powerful Mac Pro and I've always wanted to learn Final Cut Pro. -Whitey Jr |

Thanks for that. The post-production narration and sound put a great finish on your work. I find the pacing to be just right.

Hey I noticed you ran Knobbies this trip. How did they do on the interstate and those corners while on pavement? I went from a Wee to a Vee and am thinking of knobbies for my next set of tires. Which knobbies where those. Still watching the vids on day 4 now enjoyed them. Oh what was total mileage?
Thanks |

Ya, that's exactly the party-pooping I'm talking about. The worst part is that they keep changing the rules. Some songs that are OK now will be flagged months or years later. I'll never post a video that can't play in North America. A few times I've finished editing and uploading only to get that same message. I always pull the file and re-edit and re-upload until YouTube/Record Companies will allow it. The problem comes when they change their mind a year or more later, then we end up with problems like BT 2008 Day 1. A video that got over a thousand views no problem, before being screwed with. Oh well....soldiering on. I'm hoping to get some updated footage from Hammy this week, so the next episode should be up before the holidays.
