| Other Motorcycles Forum for you to discuss anything about any other motorcycles. Good place for former (and soon to be) V-Strom owners to keep on the site even though they are without a strom. |

I have a possible chance to buy a 2003 Kawi ZZR 1200 for a song. I used to own a Connie, which I liked, just couldn`t afford after job change. Anyway, I didn`t think that they were available stateside, but I am hoping somebody here can give me an opinion of the bikes characteristics. I am off now to search for a ZZR forum...if one exsists.

Never owned one, but have owned many ZRX1100's/1200's which have a similar engine (not body style, nor function = sport touring). I believe they have a great reputation........put out around 145hp (??).........a far cry from the "old" Connie rendition (and ZRX!!). I'm sure there are gremlins in every bike model, but you are on the right track by finding an Owner's Association of the ZZR.

A friend has had one for a while, he loves it. He has Givi bags on his and has gone all over the country. If a big, fast, SPORT/touring bike is what you want then I think you'll be very happy with it.

I DID own one! It was my very first motorcycle. I purchased a 2003 ZZR-1200 in 2004. I rode it for two seasons, before trading it in on a brand new 2006 Kawasaki Concours. In 2007, I traded the Concours in on my V-Strom.
It will do 169mph right out of the box, with no tweaks. I took my bike up to 135mph a few times. I LOVED it! And, I never got caught! However, I could see the writing on the wall..... Now, I limit myself to 650cc bikes. I know me; if the power is there, I will use it. At 120mph, the motorcycle changes personality and starts to come alive. It becomes a speeding bullet that you guide nimbly down the road. It is an amazing feeling, with a seemingly endless well to dip into for throttle. If you plan to only ride at 70 -80mph, then you are wasting the bike. My 2003 ZZR-1200 had Corbin Beetle bags and a Corbin seat.

Wife has a mint all stock 2004 ZZR1200 with 8k miles. When she thinks she wants to sell, it's staying put, the only thing changing is the name on the title and my bank account balance. Great bike and relatively rare.
