Default Rider down

DAVID PIPPIN was a friend of mine. His sister was my wife...but he and his two children still stayed in touch with me. David was a harley guy and has this beautiful custom S&S chopper. A girl pulled out in front of him on dec 30th. he has a broken back, ribs and collar bone. he has massive head trauma and also suffered a stroke during the accident leaving him paralyzed on one side of his body. he has been in a coma since sunday. I read a couple hours ago on facebook that he had been removed from all meds except the pain meds. so i took off for the hospital and they have no record of him. I came home and check the message from his daugher, and i did go to the right hospital. David i'm sure was not wearing a helmet and i doubt seriously if he even owned one. he also was probably scooting along at 40mph. David love to ride! he was a hard working man and honest to a fault. his family is hard core wear your church on your sleeve kind of people. David liked a cold beer...we had the talk about what if's , as i will only ride with a full face helmet and he only sunglasses. forgive my rant please. pray for david

I hope your buddy makes it. Two years ago I lost a friend who was a GWing rider. Removed his lid at the last stop on the way home for ice cream. Left it off for the last few miles and lost control of his bike swerving around a pull out at relatively low speed.

I will spare the rest of the story but my friend is no longer with me.

I consider all bikers as "brothers"..........even if they have different biking beliefs, habits, or opinions...........just like brothers in real life. It's always sad (to me) to see one "fallen"..........it could easily be myself, or one of our Stromtrooper members.

Sorry to hear about David.

He sounds like a lot of folks I know and happen to be related to.

I tease them but we all know that a rider is a rider nor matter what he rides.

I hope he's just down and not out.

Best wishes to you and the rest of his family.

Sorry to hear about your friend David. He sounds like he is a great guy and a good friend to hang out with. I hope he recovers. His family and friends will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Need an update on this situation. Did you find David or hear again from his family? That part seems a bit odd, but the daughter could certainly have been a bit occupied when leaving the phone message for you. Please provide an update.

Shiny bikes with loud pipes, or dirty bikes with centerstands... we are all loosely tied together for the same reasons. I hope he is doing well.

So sorry to hear about David. I also regard all bikers, regardless of brand, style, etc., as brothers and sisters. And I sincerely hope the hospital clears things us. Prayers go out to him and his family.

David's daughter, Jenny post on his facebook every night...the family has a code on David meaning that the hospital will show no record of David even being admitted unless you have the 'code'. that kind of sucks. but ICU's are small and not set up for any visitors...my guess is all david's friends are concerned and want to see him and Jenny was having to leave his side with each visitor. below is Jenny's post from last night:

Today was a better day at the hospital. Finally got to speak with the neurosurgeon. They did a ct scan and the blood on my dads brain is finally starting to absorb!!!!! Still looking like a very long recovery if he makes it but this is a great sign the Dr is saying that they have him scheduled to have him taken off the ventilator on Monday. He will then have a device placed in an incision they will make on his throat to help him breath if needed. He is doing most if not all of the breathing on his own though. He will also have a feeding tube placed on his stomach rather than going through his throat like it is now. Still trying to get him to respond to us with actions. Not doing so great but we are def trying! Praying for better news once this ventilator is taken out, if not before Again, thank you for all the prayers, uplifting, good vibes, and support!! Keep praying with us

Guys, please wear your helmet.
