Default Anyone hear of this Scam?

I put an add locally on Craigslist looking to trade my Wee for a equal vale sportbike ( I had a couple surgeries and need a lower bike). A guy answers and wants to trade a k7 SV650. I'm thinkin, Great! same engine same year lets hook up & check them out and see if we can work out a swap. He now tells me he is yet to pick up the SV and will deliver it for the trade, from INDIANA! He gave me a disclaimer about not being a scam but gives no reason (Yet) for why he wants the bike so bad.
I have not spoken to him in several hours but I now fully expect that he's gonna need $200 or so to close the deal on that bike or something. Anyone ever hear of this scam?

It's a popular scam. Any time somebody asks for money when you are the seller, It's a scam.

SCAM!!! Maybe he's a stupid scam artist and you can return the favor by turning the tables on him. When he asks for money assure him its no problem. Tell him to give you his bank name and acct number, or routing and acct number. Then post it all over the net for the other scammers to thrive on

The bike in Indiana (if it exists) is probably stolen.

May not be a scam but it does smell a bit. Simply reply that you will talk when he gets the bike to you to inspect, along with a clear title.

It's definitely a scam. Under no circumstances should a buyer ask for money.

We have not heard back from the OP, but at the time of his posting, the buyer had not yet asked for money.

If the deal starts to happen, look real close at the title paperwork for the SV. Be SURE that the VIN on the bike and the VIN on the title paper match. Look at the guy's I.D. to be sure that he is the person listed as owner (without liens) on the title and has the right to sign it over to you.

Both bikes involved are not rare enough to warrant any non standard shenanigans. Move the the next deal.
