Wow, I count at least 4 major blows to the head. And a couple of other scrapes. Wear your helmet (preaching to crowd)

More great devices the government joyfully uses to control us with. You can see how well thought-out they are too. Go too fast and die. A great concept. Thanks for posting that video CFZ!

I consider topes (speed bumps) to be single biggest danger when I'm out on the roads down here.
They are mostly used in small towns and other residential areas and near intersections. Those are annoying, but expected. Once in a while you'll encounter one in the middle of a straight stretch of road, unmarked and practicality invisible until you're 20 feet away. It's not so bad on a strom, but as you saw it's catastrophic to cruisers and sports bikes. At least they are fair: they f**k everyone. They're probably the only form of law enforcement that will never try to elicit a bribe There's a fortune to be made by someone if the more unexpected ones could be mapped to GPS.

Wow, I cringed when I saw that video. I hope he wasn't hurt bad. I know he had road rash to deal with afterwards but from looking at the video he could have broken bones and a possible head injury as well. Be careful out there folks.

Evidently none of the riders spent much time on a dirt bike. If they had, they'd have gotten their lazy butts off the seat, keeping their knees slightly bent and weight slightly rear-ward, and they could probably have taken the bump with no reduction in speed or loss of skin. Just let the knees flex as the bike comes up, un-flex as the bike goes down. Got a couple of bumps on a popular route, fun to use that process and go across them at 40 or so on the Vee. Had a few careless cagers following me leave some metal and/or scrape off some paving thinking there's no need to slow down. Since your body mass is (temporarily) uncoupled, the suspension can handle a surprisingly big bump with no problem.

Was he locked up on the front brake when the front tire came back to the ground?
I just returned from the Dominican Republic where they call their many, steep speed bumps Sleeping Policemen. We rode over a coupl'a hundred (at least) under control and a couple we didn't see at speed. We might have gotten both wheels off the ground once or twice, but nothing like the cop. He must have had the front brake locked.

I'd like an explantion of the dynamics at work there. The front wheel goes over the bump looking normal, but the rear wheel hits the bump and rockets upwards, launching the rider forward. I don't get it. And a very, very good thing I have not done the same. and sure won't now.
