+1 on the Roundabouts, Rod. I NEVER got used to yielding to traffic going clockwise, and I think I got honked at in every one of them. In general, the traffic in England was predictable and driving on the M roads was much easier than on US freeways. Folks are better at staying in appropriate fast/slow lanes.

Being a pedestrian was even more scary. Got to look RIGHT, not left, when crossing a street! When we were town centers with all those 16th century buildings my wife started assuming we were at Disneyland and I yanked her back many times as she wandered into a street.

I'm not sure about the UK and Europe, but don't assume you can turn left on red like you can turn right on red in the USA.

Years back when I used to going riding in Europe the first few years I put a stick on arrow on my clocks pointing left and that worked for me and the time I did forget a very nice Frenchman tried to kill me so I never did it again.

But don't forget uk and aus drive on the right so point your arrow right!

Right as in "the right side" and also "the right/ correct side"

But the uk bike shops are great if you go to see the on the 01/04/2013 they will convert your bike free of charge to right hand drive.

As mentioned in traffic you should have no problem. Out of the towns I found that if I put my brain in 'ALERT' mode every time I entered the roadway from a driveway or parking lot and every time I got to an intersection I was fine. Once or twice when I became distracted at these moments I was likely to find myself on the wrong side of the road. Once in England a driver came at me on the wrong side of the road. (I was on the correct left side) That was confusing.

Keep your wits about you, concentrate and DON'T PANIC. If you have to make an emergency maneuver, you'll likely default to the wrong side if you're not paying attention....

In 17 years driving all over the world, I've gone to the wrong side twice. Both times were making a turn into an empty, unlined road.

Nor here unless otherwise signposted. Being able to turn left at all red lights after stopping is a road rule I'd like to see introduced here.

Just be careful and look for bikes - two motorcyclists were killed here a few weeks ago by a tourist on the wrong side of the road. It happens...

A lot of our one-lane bridges and even roads around tourists areas have arrows telling you which side of the road to drive on and the rentals generally all have a sticker on the dash pointing left. Maybe make your own sticker...

When Sydney hosted the 2000 Olympics, the footpaths at street corners all had look right and an arrow painted on them.

We also get tourists dying on outback roads from drifting to the wrong side when there is no other traffic to follow.

I thought that the universal rule was to LOOK BOTH WAYS before stepping off the curb.
