I like your attitude Electojake. You sound like me.

Believe it or not I'm even throwing around the idea of trying to trade the V for maybe a Suzuki GS1150 or a FJ1200 or ???.
All I own are Suzukis, but maybe it's time to move on!!.

Some guys can never admit they bought the wrong bike.

I've got a long list of wrong bikes, the DL650 is not among them. And for crying in a bucket, if you want a DL1000, all the fixes have been posted here time after time after time.

I have an acquaintance who has a DL1K with a sidecar he wants to sell, I'd buy it in a minute if I had the cash.

We haven't shared the same experience as Vee owners. Did throw on a Power Commander to deal with EPA restrictions. The rest of the farkles (and there have been quite a few) have been to tweak it to my riding preference. Haven't experience chudder. Scoot has never left me stranded or required expensive replacement parts. Still smilin every time I hit the backroads.

My Vee has never left me stranded. I took care of the the rough running and backfire issues with a proper tb adjust as well as all other adjustments. Been on many trips ranging from more then 4000 miles to just over 1000 miles and may be doing the four corners next summer. I did do the real Shelby Werks basket at 20,000 miles but all the other tweaks are making it mine. I did do the yosh box to it without much noticeable difference then dropping my mileage from 50mpg to 45 ish. When I get my hands on one I may just zero it out. The wee is a nice bike but its not the bike for me. We do a lot of cruising over 70 out west and the wee is to buzzy and wheezes to much for me.

Speaking of the size of the rider...
If I was not 6' 3" tall (191cm?) I would certainly have moved on to other bikes, or never bothered with a Vee in the first place.
I can easily stand over my Vee flat-footed and clear my butt off the saddle at a stop light. Has a great cooling effect in the summer.
So Yeah, I love to complain about the mechanics of that 996 mill but a long cruise at 75 MPH in 6th gear on the Vee is simply wonderful.
The GSX1250 I'm looking to purchase is probably going to be a lot of fun at a great price, but with my long legs (and 56 year old back) I have a feeling that I'd be a fool to sell my old red Vee anytime soon.

Closing thoughts...
I'm impressed that I didn't get mauled by you guys after my rant up there. Shows good forumship.
Hell, we have Troopers here that don't even own a DL1000 and still showed up to complain. Impressive!
