Question Why am I being spammed on Stromtrooper?

On the Australian Regional section I keep getting spammed by a pop up that says I'm today's lucky winner of some thing or other.

When I close the message it automatically redirects me to another website.

Happening when I access the forum on my android phone.

I will check when I log in on the computer at home tonight to see if it is happening there as well.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Maybe you are the lucky winner mate
Probably need to share it with a mate that just won $2,000,000 on his phone

G'day Macca,

I'm not sure the problem originates from here but this is the only forum it is happening on at the moment so I just thought I'd ask around.

Whatever it is, it's bloody annoying.

But I will sort it out and stop it somehow, not a big problem.

A Pop Up Blocker works for me, no problems with pop up's on any website.

Install a pop-up blocker, but also download the free cleaner from Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

I'm pretty sure that this site doesn't have any bulls$%t advertising stuff like that, so you most likely have a minor case of spyware. The program above will likely fix it.

What browser do you use?

If you look at the ads that pop up you may find items similar to your google searches. If you clear your google history and delete your searches, it shouldn't happen. Google automatically keeps your searches and this allows companies to then spam you with the pop ups. Try looking at gopro and then come back on and see if you get adds for gopro. I did and then deleted history and they disappear.

Glad someone absorbed what I said in the original post

Yes it is on my Android phone.

I've been wandering on and off Stromtrooper on the computer for the last couple of days with no problems [yes I do have antivirus and popup blockers].

Looks like I will have to find software for the phone to protect it as well, assuming there are programs available for download to phones.

Damn, reading is hard!

There must be something fishy going on. I have yet to come across any Android malware, but I hear it's out there.

Adblock Plus was released this week for Android. You might give that a try.

Have a look at the running apps list and see if there's anything you don't recognize. Also ask the question at the XDA developers site.

Let us know will you? I run an app checker on my phone since I mess with custom roms. It's called "Lookout" That might help.

Good luck!
