Default Who knows

Obviously, the energy companies keep stock and prices high by making it appear that energy (gas, oil) is scarce and difficult to access. It is likely that there are (relatively) plentiful supplies of both, although it will get more and more expensive to access. Sadly, plentiful supplies encourage irresponsible consumption, additional air pollution, and slow technological advancement. I'd prefer to see the feds add a buck a gallon tax, and use the money to start reversing the deficit growth. Of course, they can't be trusted to use the money responsibly, so they'd find new ways to spend more money, instead. Not to mention that the oil lobby would never allow it.
