A lot of Katana's suffered 2nd-3rd gears issues from squids trying to ride them like a GSXR (or the like) genuine sport bike. What they were (like Nighthawks) were good air cooled in-line commuter bikes dressed in wolves clothing. If you could ride it , it might save you some headache.

It was always considered a budget option against the CBR600.

Kind of like the Vstrom to the GS.

Not cutting edge but capable. I waited a few years and bought a Kwacker ZZR600.
