Here's a tip to union workers who might be concerned about their future: If your employer is struggling, and fighting thru bankruptcy, it might not be the best time to launch a strike if you were hoping to keep your job.
And the shutdown has nothing to do with the facts that Hostess has had six CEOs in the eight years they've been owned by the pirate capitalists, that the current CEO makes $2,250,000 per year (I'd run a failing enterprise for a lot less), they stopped making pension contributions for the workers, and demanded the workers take 27-32% pay cuts?

About 35 years ago I worked in a union factory. I was there for 7 years, during that time we went on strike three times.
After the third strike the company folded (didn't even sell), and moved all of their operations/functions to South Dakota (Right to Work State) and started all over.
They're still in business. It happens.

I read that Hostess sales have been in decline over recent years. Why buy Hostess brands when Little Debbie has the same product at half of the price?

Rumor has it, there were/are Twinkie remains in one of the Egyptian tombs (don't remember whose tomb, was there a queen Twinkertiti?).

I worked for Remington making cartridges

I was unionized in Bridgeport CT

Bit by bit they moved to Arkansas, one reason was in Arkansas an operator ran 10 automatic machines. The Bridgeport Union grew up before any automation so it was an operator on 2 machines.

The Union is out for the Union on some occasions what they want coincidentally is what the workers want.

Easy to find in Pennsylvania, not so elsewhere. I always bring some home with me when I go to visit corporate Mecca in Macungie.

Yup....scuttling the airplane halfway across the Atlantic...as the flight crew went on strike....

The big surprise is that it took so long......Anyone relieved that the Board of Directors managed to fashion their golden parachutes before the plane went down?

Typical....is this the best we can expect from corporate America?

I can't tell you the last time I had a Twinkie, Ding-Dong, Ho-Ho, or whatever else those things were. Ate them as a kid, but have not had one in at least 30 years plus...
