I don't use the word as I think we're all posers at one time or another. During summer, I ride with a t-shirt, goggles, & a bandanna. When it gets cold, my buds call me a poser when I wear attgatt. Doesn't make sense to me. To me, a rider's a rider, and I wave at 'em.

I guess I'm a poser Adventure Rider. All I've done so far is take 100-150 rides on pavement, on dry road roads, when it's above 40 degrees. I don't have any luggage capacity other than a tank bag, and it only big enough fro extra gloves and a couple water bottles. I haven't gone camping or overnight trips. Don't have any heated gear and am not prepared for wet weather. So really nothing I couldn't have done on anyother type of bike (other than being comfortable on my VStrom).

But I try to make a loop and not go out and back the same roads. I take roads I've never been down on purpise, just to see where they go. I have a phone w/ GPS, but I leave it in my pocket unless I really get turned around and start going in circles. I'm lucky in that there are roads to explore in all direction from my house as soon as I leave my driveway. This is all new to me but I'm loving it and can't wait to go on more adventures.

Unless it's a straight, level road, it's a different ride in each direction.

I'm not now, have never been, nor will ever be a "biker" (think SoA). What I am, is a motorcycle enthusiast. To me, a "poser" is anyone pretending to be someone or something they're not. Please note, this is simply my opinion and most likely won't hold water anywhere outside of my own head but I'm okay with that.

Boy you guys really are out of the loop

The quintessential poser is someone who has a power ranger racing suit and drives his Sport bike to a bike night, hangs out, POSING, and then drives home at 20 mph and then parks it to the next bike night.

This might also apply to English Literature professors who don leather and show up at Harley meets.

I am sure we are now getting posers (really beemers) who have all the accoutrements for going to Tierra Del Fuego but never left the pavement in their home town.

I am travel poser, I like being able to say I have been to places but almost never enjoyed the trip itself.

Maybe a poser is similar to a poseur.

I'm ok with Mr. Professor as long as when he dons the leather he actually rides in it regularly before hitting up the Harley meet.

Default Broken Peg Poser

Haa ha. I sold my Kawi cruiser for parts after the rear drive failed. Couldn't find a bike that had good ergo (rode the Kawi on the passenger seat if the trip exceeded 5 miles).

So here's the pose:
Purchased a used V 2 years ago. Hmmm....adventure bike. TRIED to ride up my backyard hill which is a 3:1 to 4:1 grade. Started sliding half way up...No problem, I'll just apply front brake, turn the fork right, pull the clutch and crank the bike in a backward arc (not in that order) to point forward downhill and try again. HAHAHAA

Dropped it going backward in an arc. Foot pegs don't flex when you're going backwards.

Put a 6" long bolt in to replace the footpeg until the new one came in.

Nice try ACE!!

I still laugh when I think about that.
