Gotta say you have a point there, most Harley fellas have been genuinely interested in any bike I was riding at the time. They don't like clones of their American Hogs, but many do appreciate other 2 wheeled machines.

Just for giggles, when you see someone on a stretched-out custom chopper, be sure to tell them how awesome you think their Honda Fury is.

You meet the nicest people on Hondas.

I think I'll try that at the next bike fest

I had a surreal moment yesterday.

I wave at everyone on 2 wheels if they are riding for fun, rather than necessity (trust me, you can tell down here)

A fairly large group of Harleys were coming the other way and I thought, here we go, I'll wave and they'll all ignore me.

To my surprise, all the riders and passengers waved back EXCEPT for the lone ADV bike rider (maybe a Triumph) that was tucked in among them.

Now either he was an ass or they were herding him to their meeting place where they were going to sacrifice him to the chrome gods and he was too scared to signal for help.

The other odd thing was that the Harley riders were wearing some kind of uniform jackets...think of the Beatles on the Sargent Pepper album cover... They probably had leather underwear on to compensate.

I wave at all bikes, scooter, Cops, cows and most byclist's.

However I felt bad on the weekend past. I was looking down at my GPS for a moment and as I looked up a Cruiser that I hadn't seen (he was behind a truck) was waving. I waved but probably too late for him to see me. I hope he isn't posting in a cruise forum how a rider o nan ugly bike didn't wave back at him.

This has kept me up at night ever since and made me sad.

..Tom

There are a couple of time that I do not wave.
When I need both hands on the bars and when ever there are just too many bikes like at a ralley.

In the summer here, I get really, really tired of waving.

On the weekends you can see almost as many cars as Harleys.

Default We're all on two wheels

Last summer I took an 11 day trip through several states. One day I pulled over to the side of the highway (safe spot to pull off) to check the map on my smart phone. A couple on a Harley pulled over while I was parked to see if I needed assistance. I kindly thanked them and they went on their way. Later that morning I saw them at a scenic overlook. Since I was stopping anyway I walked over to thank them again for checking on me. They told me they never leave a rider stranded. It was a very nice encounter. Now I only pull off at convenience stores or roadside stops though.

I've had similar experiences... Most bikers/riders are nice people.
