Default Skyfall

I went to see the new BOND movie Skyfall at an IMAX theater Sunday. Daniel Craig was already my favorite James Bond actor and he brought that edge to this movie that others just couldn't. If you want to know what "swagger" means, just observe Daniel Craig! I wouldn't normally do a movie write up. But they got this thing right! The motorcycle chase scene early on is great. Mainly because everything they do.....looks to me to be very real. Short of the jump off the balcony I could have done those stunts ( maybe a few years back anyway) and in todays computer generated graphics I appreciated the "reality". Daniel Craig appears to do quite a bit of the riding in these scenes as well.

Between work and home, the chances that I'll see this in theaters is slim. However I did see this little video about all the Honda CRFs used in production - very cool. Here's a link that should get you there. “Skyfall” Motorcycle Stunt Secrets Revealed in Video « MotorcycleDaily.com – Motorcycle News, Editorials, Product Reviews and Bike Reviews

Sometimes the CGI are subtle, like making the stunt double look more like the lead actor. So he does "appear" to be doing more riding than he really is.

Is it just me or when other people look the Daniel Craig in the eye. do they find him to be very straightforward and trustworthy? Are other people able to get a sense of his soul? Or have I gotten him confused with somebody little more malevolent?

Haven't seen it yet, but planning to this Friday. Looks like good stunt riding!

I think you can sense a dark side there. That may be what sets him apart from other "Bonds". Maybe not having been spoon fed from birth and paying his dues. From that he brings an aura of "incorruptible" when it comes to loyalty to country and friends. Yet he still has to be kept on a short leash because he doesn't play by the rule book. Daniel Craig is not a "pretty boy". Pierce Brosnan (sp?) was too much that way. I like an imperfect character. Clint Eastwood doesn't always play the nice guy either! While it is just acting, I like the turn he and the new writing has brought to the James Bond series. I think these movies are works of art. 50 years old now! They are history lessons on the screen. Think about the cold war stuff with Russia, the Space Shuttle and so on.

I checked out the link posted above and you are probably right that what I thought was Craig was NOT! Still, that is still a great motorcycle scene and perfectly done in BOND style!

I don't have any problem with those being motocross bikes dolled up. In fact, in Turkey, they might be the bike of choice for those conditions!

Actors are NOT allowed to do stunts, whether they want to or not.

Liked the movie more spy thriller than the average Bond. The plot premise was very weak but that's not why we go. It was my 12 year old's first Bond in the movies.
